They require aid, and offer technological and medical advances in return.. However, the Visitors soon take control of the planet.. Fabricating a human conspiracy against them, they begin to remove key scientists, who pose a threat to them.. Human collaborators begin to inform on their own friends and families.. TV reporter Mike Donovan sneaks aboard one of the alien Motherships, and discovers that the Visitors are really carnivorous reptiles.. Meanwhile, on Earth, doctors Julie Parrish and Ben Taylor carry out a raid to steal vital medical supplies for their fledgling Resistance movement.. Ben is killed by the V isitors, and Julie realises that humanity must try to resist the Visitors … or perish.. Detailed Synopsis: Following a dedication to the resistance fighters of the past, present, and future, V opens with a scene set in war – torn El Salvador.. News cameraman Mike Donovan and his partner, soundman Tony Wah Chong Leonetti are in El Salvador covering revolutionaries trying to bring freedom to their country.. Interviewing the rebel leader, they are witness to an attack by a group of helicopters.. After watching the rebel leader show down with one of the choppers, shooting the pilot and damaging the chopper with a pistol causing it to crash.. Donovan and Leonetti try to make a getaway in an old pickup truck, but the main chopper follows them with guns blazing and missiles launching.. The chopper chases them to a river bank with a rusted truck as the only cover.. After Tony gets shot in the upper arm he loses control of their truck as the chopper launches a missile at them turning their truck over, and Donovan makes a break for the rusted truck as a diversion so that Tony can run away.. He directs his camera at the chopper that’s about to gun him down but it abruptly flies away, leaving a confused Mike to wonder why he is so fortunate.. Donovan lowers the camera as he turns around to find out the reason why.. As he turns he see’s a gargantuan alien ship floating toward him from the horizon and raises the camera back into position as he starts to film this amazing sight.. In subsequent scenes the other major characters are introduced as they witness more Visitor Motherships descending to hover above Earth cities as fifty spacecrafts are spotted in the major cities of the world.. The Visitors have come in peace and offer to share all of their technology and advances in science in exchange for using the Earth to manufacture a vague chemical compound which will save their planet from environmental danger racked upon it.. Juliet Parrish, a bio – chemist and medical student explains her experiment and formula to Dr. Rudolph Metz , as Dr. Ben Taylor runs in asking if they had seen the news.. He turns on the TV as Julie and her scientist colleagues watch as a Mothership approaches San Francisco; Robert Maxwell, an anthropologist, witnesses a Mothership fly over a dig in the mountains; in a Los Angeles suburb the huge ship is watched by the rest of the Maxwell family, the neighboring Bernstein family, Eleanor Dupres, and others.. The news is saturated with reports about the fifty alien ships scattered around the world.. Each is several miles in diameter, and they exhibit some sort of radio and electrical interference that prevents jet fighters and even missiles from getting too close.. Soon all the ships are stationary, and the worlds waits to see what will happen.. The next day, Julie heads to the hospital to help out with her boyfriend, Denny, volunteering to help out.. Outside the Maxwell’s, Robin Maxwell tells Daniel that she doesn’t want to die a virgin.. As Daniel moves closer to her, Polly runs out telling them that something is happening.. They run in and watch with the family and the rest of the world as the Motherships begins to send a signal which is counting down in different languages all around the world.. Then a unusual reverberated voice announces their arrival and requesting a meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations at 0100 Greenwich Mean Time ( 8 pm in New York ).. On the U.N. Building, Mike and Tony rush to get set up into place as they run into Kristine Walsh, a reporter with romantic ties to Donovan,.. They set up as the Secretary General, Olav Lindstrom, moves into place, as he orders troops to lower their weapons, waiting for contact.. In the media event of the century, all eyes watch that evening as a shuttlecraft descends from the New York Mothership and lands on the roof of the U.N. building.. As the shuttle lands, an door begins to open and forms a ramp as a hush moves across the crowd.. Speaking in the Secretary General’s native tongue, Swedish, a voice request that he not be afraid and come up the ramp.. He slowly makes his way up the ramp as the world watches.. A short time later the Secretary General returns and addresses the people of Earth.. After addressing the citizens of Earth, the Secretary General stands aside as we get the first glimpse of the Visitors.. The alien who emerges from the craft is remarkably human in appearance – except for a reverberating voice and an aversion to bright lights.. He introduces himself as John, and explains that the Visitors have come to Earth from Sirius IV, 8.7 light years away, because they need help producing certain chemicals to save their environmentally – ravaged home world.. In exchange, John promises that they will share knowledge that will solve Earth’s environmental, agricultural, and health dilemmas.. Then the Visitors will leave as they came – in peace.. Mike Donovan, Tony and respected newswoman Kristine Walsh are amongst the first to get to go up on the craft and meet the Supreme Commander John, who insists he is only an Admiral of sorts of this ” small fleet “ around Earth, as well as Diana, the Chief Science Officer and in command of the Los Angeles Mothership.. Eleanor Dupres suggests to her husband Arthur, who owns the Richland Chemical Plant, that he should bid his plant to be used for the Visitors.. During John’s speech, we start to meet main characters as they watch the event in their homes and work places.. Everyone is asking questions and commenting on what they would like to know or see.. As Mike, Tony, Kristine and the rest of the reporters selected to board the Mothership head onto the shuttle, everyone around the world starts to wish them luck.. After returning from the Mothership, Mike and Kristen catch up and watch the report on their visit to the L.A. Mothership.. Kristen tells Mike that she stacked the deck for them to be selected to go aboard the Mothership, as she gets Mike to play the news report again.. It’s obvious Kristen has had a bit to drink as she comments on Mike’s filming; Mike had filmed a lot of close ups of the Chief Science Officer, Diana.. The Visitors are quickly integrated into Earth society.. At the Richland Chemical Plant, the first U.S. plant retooled to produce the alien compounds, a high school band lines up playing the theme from Star Wars as a shuttle load of Visitor Technicians begin to form ranks as onlookers cheer them on welcoming them.. Diana, watches the Visitors form ranks as another shuttle begins its descent to the plant.. A number of people express their concern on how many Visitors there are.. One of the band members, Robin Maxwell, starts to eye off one of the Visitors, Brian, as he oversees the Visitors.. As the Visitors start to familiarise themselves with the Refinery, we see Daniel explain to his father why he lost his job.. Robert and Kathleen Maxwell start comparing there notes on things they noticed about the Visitors.. Dr. Arch Quinton, a leading Archeology professor, sits at his desk reading over a file on John, the Supreme Commander, flipping notes and surveillance photos of the Visitor.. The notes on the photographs indicate that he is interested in the cranial measurements of the Visitors.. Presumably, the measurements indicate a less human countenance than is easily perceived by the eye.. He places the file in his work tray as he leaves the office and heads to his car.. Upon starting the vehicle, he turns around to back out and is shocked when he was starring at a Visitor sitting in his back seat.. The next day at the Refinery, we meet a Visitor called William ( Willie ), a Visitor technician, who is having difficult communicating due to his lack of English skills.. Mike Donovan, Tony and Kristen are at the Refinery reporting on a new program that John has introduced, as Diana watches on.. By popular demand, the youth group ” Visitor Friends,” also known as ” Visitor Youth, is created for children and young adults to learn more about the Visitors.. Watching this report is Daniel Bernstein, who has shown interest in the Visitors since they arrived.. Later, Brian, and a group of Visitors are hitting the streets spreading the word about the Visitor Youth Program.. He catches the eye of Robin Maxwell, who was pointing him out to Polly ( Robin’s sister ), as Daniel approaches him to introduce himself and ask questions, they exchange a friendly smile.. Back at the Refinery, Willie is still having trouble finding his way to where he needs to go.. He is having difficulty in communicating with the humans, which starts to frustrate him, until he meets a food service woman named Harmony Moore who helps him.. Willie’s English isn’t the best due to a screw up.. He was meant to go to the Middle East but ended up in the U.S. due to a screw up in planning.. Up on the Mothership, Kristine Walsh meets with Diana.. Diana explains that the Visitors feel comfortable with Kristine and makes her the Visitors’ official spokesperson.. Back in L.A., Robert Maxwell is concerned when he hadn’t seen Dr. Quinton.. He notices that there is nothing in his current work file and is trying to work out where he could be when he is informed that Quinton’s car is still in the car park.. Robert opens the car door and finds the keys still in the ignition.. Nothing seemed out of place, except for a scorch mark on the inner door, which leaves Robert puzzled.. Kristine tells Mike the news that Diana has made her the official spokesperson for the Visitors.. Mike shows concern and questions her objectivity.. At the Richland Chemical Plant, there is an accident when liquid nitrogen breaks through the inner sealers.. As one of the workers escapes the liquid nitrogen, his hand hits a metal rail which shatters his lower arm, due to being frozen from the nitrogen.. William realises that his human co – worker is still trapped.. William braves temperatures of 300 below to save a Caleb Taylor.. Steven, William’s Supervisor, makes his way to the scene when William emerges from the door supporting Caleb.. The foreman and Steven notice Willie’s face, which has blistered from the extreme cold.. Scientist are talking about how fellow scientist have disappear and not shown up for work when Julie Parish calls Dr. Benjamin Taylor, informing him that there has been an accident at the plant and that his father, Caleb, has been rushed to the E.R. where she has been volunteering her time.. Abraham Bernstein and Ruby Engels are out for a walk as they talk about Daniel, Abraham’s grandson.. They see a shuttle land as Steven makes his way to Eleanor Dupres’s ( Donovan’s mother ) house, informing her that her husband, Arthur, will be joining them later due to the accident at the plant.. Eleanor starts to get cozy with Steven, Head of Security.. Overhead, Mike Donovan is being flown in a Visitors Squad Vehicle by a Visitor called Martin, who points out the fact that Steven has been spending a lot of time at Eleanor’s house.. As they talk about Mike’s son Sean, Mike finds something in the back of the shuttle.. Mike is about to say something to Martin as he starts to hand the item over, when he thinks twice about it and decided to pocket the item.. The Visitors soon permeate all aspects of society from children toys to dinner parties.. Visitors are even the objects of others’ affections.. Even Josh, Sean Donovan’s friend, has toys made to represent the Visitors.. Sean asks his father, Mike, whether he can get them too.. After telling him he will talk to Sean’s mother, Mike reaches in his jacket and removes the object he found on the shuttle on the way to visit him.. Sean excitedly asks what is it, but not being able to answer the question Mike tells him it’s just something he picked up of a shuttle.. This of course doesn’t go down to well with Marjorie, Sean’s mother and Mike Donovan’s ex – wife as it makes her feel like she needs to compete for Sean’s love and attention.. An assistant to Dr. Rudolph Metz, Ruth Barnes gets a skin sample from William and plans to study it with his assistant Dr. Juliet Parish.. It seems to good to be true.. After being probed by Julie, Ruth admits her love for Metz.. After leaving Julie, Ruth makes her way into her home and as she turns to close her door, is surprised to be face to face with a Visitor, who was waiting for her inside.. He raises a laser weapon and fires.. Benjamin Taylor brings his father, Caleb, home from hospital just as his brother Elias returns home.. Ben tries to talk to Elias about snapping out of his street hood Richard Pryor act.. Robin Maxwell is talking with a friend on the phone about the hunky Visitor, Brian, she likes, when she is interrupted by Brian himself.. He is looking for Daniels house, to talk to him about the Visitor Youth Program.. They end up going for a walk to get to know one another.. A few days later at the Refinery Plant, Willie runs into Harmony Moore, who he has started to befriend.. She notices that his face looks fine, even though she was told that it was blistered.. After chatting with Harmony, Willie then meets up with Caleb, who has returned to work.. Again Willie’s English lets him down again when he asks Caleb if he was feeling ” fun..” Caleb, having more tolerance for Willie now for saving his life, corrects him and says “ fine..” Willie realises his error.. Not long after, many people are suspicious of their new friends from outer space.. People begin to slowly disappear, usually people of a scientific nature who seem suspicious of the Visitor’s good intentions, like Ruth Barnes and colleagues of Robert and Julie.. Noble Prize winner, Dr. Morris John Kalski announces that there is a world wide scientific conspiracy planned against the Visitors and he names off names, including Dr. Rudolf Metz.. The scientific community is in an uproar.. Soon there is news of a conspiracy of scientists ( Especially those involved in anthropology and bio – medicine ) who have been scheming to seize control of Visitor Motherships.. Visitors and Government Agents search Dr. Metz office, as he denies any involvement.. During the search, they find a file hidden on the roof of a filing cabinet.. Taking the file and flipping through the file, Metz realises he has been set up, but knows there is no way out of it.. Public opinion grows increasingly strong against those involved in the sciences as Scientists are discredited, arrested, even though they claim they have nothing to do with it, or continue to simply vanish.. The Visitors and human leaders alike decide to institute a registration process for scientists and their family.. Watching the report on his family television, Abraham Bernstein begins to see and feel a familiar situation, the Nazi Regime.. The next day Abraham talks to his good friend Ruby Engels about his concerns, who tells him not to worry; that his family aren’t doctors, biologist or scientists so there is no need to fear and that it’s it’s all going to pass.. Abraham says that that’s what he said back in Berlin during 1938, but Ruby tries to assure him that it’s different.. Looking over at the Visitors shuttle they see Daniel, Abraham’s grandson, dressed in the Visitor Youth uniform, talking with Brian, the Visitor Youth Leader, who shakes his hand welcoming him to the group.. It then hits Ruby that this IS all to familiar.. Denny, Julies boyfriend, is watching the news about the conspiracy and Scientist, frustrated that he had to cancel dinner plans with a client due to Julie being tied up at work.. As Julie walks in the door, she tries explain to Denny that things are a mess at work due to a couple of her fellow workers disappearing.. After informing her that he canceled their plans, Julie says that he must be disappointed and asks whether he thinks he will still get the account.. He says no, ” they were to polite..” Putting her lab coat down Julie asks how could they do this to him, when it suddenly hits Julie.. She asks Denny whether he thinks it’s because she is a Scientist.. Denny takes a while to reply, and when he does, Julie states that he is being to polite and walks away.. This is the beginning of the end for their relationship.. Tony Leonetti makes a discovery and shows Donovan a tape of the recent media event where Dr. Morris John Kalski signed a statement informing on his fellow Scientist.. Mike has seen it before, but Tony pauses the screen of the signing and tells Mike something was bugging him about it all night.. Tony plays another tape on the screen next to it which shows Dr. Kalski signing a book for his father at a Science Fair the previous year.. Mike still isn’t sure what Tony is trying to get at.. Tony points out the fact that at the Fair, he used his right hand to sign, then at the media event, he signed with his left hand.. Mike says maybe he’s ambidextrous, but Tony, who has confirmed it says no, up until this week he was right handed.. Leonetti tells Mike that something strange is going on.. Robin has started to form a relationship with the Visitor, Brian, who is playing a video game before they head out for a walk.. Brian is pointing out the Visitors Homeworld, when Daniel, who wants to be with Robin, sees them and jealously interrupts them by asking Robin how her father is.. After Daniel reveals that her father is a Scientist, Robin leaves them cautiously.. Brian begins to question Daniel about Robins father.. Intent to shed some light on the secrets of the Visitors, Donovan and Leonetti decide to sneak aboard the Mothership to get an unauthorized tour.. But as they try to sneak onto the Tanker Shuttle, Tony gets his foot caught in a gap in the piping slowing him up.. Mike jumps up into the closing door as he realises Tony isn’t with him.. The doors continue to close as Tony jumps up trying to climb aboard but can’t find his footing.. Tony drops to the ground as the hatch closes.. Mike smuggles himself aboard the Tanker flying up to the Los Angeles Mothership.. Hiding himself behind some storage containers in the Mothership hanger, Mike over hears a couple of Visitors complain about wasting their time collecting chemicals they don’t need.. Mike, not understanding what he just heard or sees, starts filming as they transfer the Tanker’s useless chemicals to vents that simply release it back into the air above the city.. Mike then uses the internal ductways of the ship to spy on various quarters and the Visitors that occupy them.. As he moves along he notices a couple of Visitors using the same kind of object he found and gave to his son, Sean; it’s a key.. He continues to move along and stops at one vent where Diana is describing something called a conversion process to Steven.. Ever since the aliens’ arrival, nobody has seen them eat much of anything, but Mike soon discovers the reason – they eat live animals, like mice and guinea pigs, whole! Mike moves on to another chamber where he watches a Visitor, who looks like he’s taking out contacts, remove his humanoid eyes to reveal reptilian eye slits.. The Visitor discovers Mike and they begin to struggle with each other.. During the struggle Mike reaches out and grabs at the Visitors face, only to be shocked as the Visitors skin begins to peel of his face, revealing his true reptilian form.. Mike, realising that the camera was laying next to them, directs the Visitors face towards the camera.. The Visitor spits something at him as Mike manages to grab the camera, which was still recording where it fell, and knocked the Visitor to the ground.. Mike escapes through the ductway and jumps on the next transport to Earth.. Mike takes his video tape to the studio where it will be aired across the country.. But almost immediately their broadcast is interrupted by the Visitors who now control the air waves.. They broadcast their own story using Kristine as their Press Secretary, who hands it over to John.. John reports that the scientific conspiracy continues to sabotage Visitor interests and, at the request of the planet’s governments, martial law is declared.. In addition, John shows Donovan’s photo and states that he’s now a wanted fugitive for crimes against the Visitors.. As John is making his report, Shocktroopers break into the television studio to find Donovan and the tape.. Mike narrowly escapes with a copy of his tape.. The next day, Elias and Ruby amongst others start to see and feel the presence of the Visitors military, as Shocktroopers are making their presence felt as Visitors and Visitor Youth members start putting up posters.. Ruby notices them and recognises them as propaganda.. As Kristine Walsh, now the Visitors Spokesperson, reports on recent events, Daniel watches as he cleans his Visitor pistol.. his grandfather, Abraham, again looks on with concern.. Donovan, now on the run, is starting to gather more evidence on the real reason the Visitors are here as he takes photos of the military being searched at Davis Air Force Base, noticing that our own military have no power over the Visitors.. Sancho, the Maxwell’s gardener, informs Kathleen Maxwell that he can no longer work for them because other people he works for know he works for them and don’t like it.. Kathleen asks why, only to realise it is due to the fact that her husband, Robert, is a Scientist.. Sancho explains that he has been given an ultimatum; either he works for them or the Maxwell’s.. As he explains that he needs the other work to support his family, Kathleen tells him it’s okay and understands.. Kathleen then notices her daughter, Polly, walking down the street carrying her school project as Abraham Bernstein walks next to her walking her bicycle back to her house.. Running out to her to find out what is wrong, Polly explains how she got into a fight cause a bunch of kids destroyed her project because she won the School Science Fair.. Kathleen asks didn’t the teachers stop it, but Polly tells her that the teacher that saw the fight walked away, seeing she comes from a Scientist family.. Polly thanks Abraham as she takes her bike and heads of the fix it.. In the meantime, Julie Parish packs some clothes into a suitcase, as Denny asks where she is going.. Feeling guilty about Denny losing clients due to Julie being a Scientist, and scared that more of her fellow Scientist have disappeared, Julie has decided to leave.. Denny tries to assure her that there is nothing to worry about.. Julie asks him whether she should stay.. After a long hesitance from Denny, he replies that she should do what she thinks is best.. Knowing what he was saying, Julie bids him farewell and leaves.. That night, while the Maxwell family are enjoying a night in, a rock is thrown threw their living room window, frightening the kids and Kathleen.. Robert watches a pick up truck full of teenagers driving off.. Over at the Bernstein’s, Daniel is drinking as he watches Kristine’s report but sick of seeing her face and one side of the story, Daniels father, Stanley, turns the television off.. Daniel drunkenly says ” but the truth is the truth..” Stanley tired of only hearing the one person report the news, asks why not let someone else report it.. Noticing Daniel has been drinking a lot, he takes the alcohol off him as he continues his complaining.. It’s not only that he thinks that reporters should be able to report what they want, but the fact that even newspapers report exactly what Kristine Walsh says; bills have gone up; everything is costing more; you need a permit to make long distance calls.. Kathleen tries to reasure her husband, reminding him that he said it will past.. After verbalising his thoughts, they realise that their son, Daniel, had disappeared.. Kathleen tries to get Stanley to watch what he says, because of how close Daniel is with the Visitors.. She explains that she had heard stories that Visitor Youth members had informed on their own parents, who disappeared.. Trying to explain what he meant, Stanley realises that what he has been saying could be taken the wrong way, especially by Daniel.. Worried that Daniel had gone to inform on them they question where he was.. Robert Maxwell and his family decide to go on the run rather than face the possibility of being framed, but Robin complains that she doesn’t want to leave, as she wants to be able to see Brian.. Robert demands that she gets in the car.. Sancho, their old gardener notices them leaving.. In the midst of martial law and evening curfews, embryonic groups of concerned citizens form and meet in secret.. One such group includes Julie, her colleague Dr. Benjamin Taylor, and Police Officer Brad and a handful of people.. They wonder what they can do to fight the growing power of the Visitors, then realize the key must be with Scientists like Anthropologists and Medical Doctors – only people in those fields are being ostracized.. They plan to get weapons, equipment, and a headquarters, forming the beginning of the Resistance.. The group needs greater numbers and more contacts, though, so Julie agrees to contact Kristine Walsh to see if she might be a suitable mole.. Donovan tries to contact Tony, who refers to Mike as Uncle Padro.. Mike catches onto the fact that the phone had been bugged and monitored.. Tony gives Mike a location to meet in code and lets him go as Visitors and Police centre in on Mike.. They open fire as Mike makes his escape.. The Maxwell’s, still trying to get up to their place in the mountains, run into another road block.. They are startled when a man, who is trying to help smuggle Scientist out, makes a run for it from his car and is shot in the back by a Shocktrooper and falls onto the front of the Maxwell’s car.. Police Officers move in and Officer Bob Briggs roughly handcuffs the injured man.. Briggs partner, Officer Randy Talbot, tries to get him to ease up.. Realising the Robert, and his family, are watching Talbot walks away unsure.. Polly asks if they are going to fight their way through the road block.. Robert says no.. They wonder who can help them when Kathleen gets the idea of who can and tells Robert to turn the car around.. In the meantime, Ben Taylor tries to recruit his brother, the criminal and con artist, Elias, as he knows that he would have contacts on the streets that will be able to help the Resisitance.. Elias, not worrying about the Visitors as it’s been better business on the streets for him, rejects the offer citing Ben never helping him.. The Maxwell’s go back to their neighbour, Abraham, who has agreed to help them out by letting them hide out in the Bernstein’s pool house.. It hasn’t been used in ages, as they only use it for storage.. Robin of course complains about the filth and mess.. Just as they say that they will make do, Abraham’s son, Stanley, walks in.. Pulling his father aside to ask what is happening, he tries to argue that their house was being watched too, by Daniel.. Stanley tries to tell the Maxwell’s they can’t stay in the pool house, when Abraham stops him.. He begins to tell the story of how he and his wife smuggled Stanley out of Germany during WWII.. Thinking he had heard the story he tries to stop his father from telling it again.. But this time, Abraham tells him the real story.. After hearing the full story, Stanley agrees to letting the Maxwell’s stay.. When Julie arrives outside Kristine’s apartment, she discovers that a man – Donovan – is already there and sneaking into the woman’s place.. Mike is hoping to convince Kristine about what he saw, but he’s forced to make a hasty retreat as Visitors ambush the place.. After watching the event from her hiding place, Julie isn’t sure who to trust and decides not to confront Kristine.. Daniel returns home after performing his Visitor Friends duties.. He is surprised to find Robin standing in his family’s living room.. Asking what she is doing there, Robin tells him that she couldn’t stand to be in the pool house another minute because of the size.. She starts to question Daniel about Brian, who tries to keep changing the subject, only to have Robin keep probing him about Brian.. Later, Julie, Ben, and Brad steal some medical equipment and supplies to assist their growing Resistance movement.. As Julie and Brad jump in the truck, Ben, sees Shocktroopers moving in on them.. He yells out for them to go, as he tries to escape on foot.. Julie stops down the road near her car; swaps vehicles and heads back for Ben.. During their escape, Ben is fatally injured as he is shot in the chest by a laser rifle.. As Julie tries to help him to the car, she is shot in the hip by a Visitor laser weapon and .. They escape and Julie drives them to seek refuge with Ben’s street – smart brother, Elias Taylor.. But there is nothing that can be done for Ben, and he passes the Resistance torch to Elias before he dies.. At the end of the episode, Abraham Bernstein, a World War II survivor of the Nazi death camps, runs into a group of kids defacing a Visitor propaganda poster.. It looks as if he’s about to chide them, but instead he shows them the proper way to show their defiance – he guides the kids hand and sprays a bold ” V “ over the poster.. V for Victory.. He tells them to go tell their friends.. Resistance has begun.. Bloopers: During the battle in El Salvador, the jar on the chair behind Mike and Tony is shot.. Some shots later, the jar has disappeared.. When Mike and Tony escape from the helicopters in El Salvador, Mike’s hair, clothes and camera are wet just before they pass in the river.. They were not wet in the previous shot.. Although the battle at the beginning of the episode is presumably supposed to take place in a secluded area of the El Salvadoran jungle, sharp eyes can pick out several instances of buildings, water tanks and telephone poles on the hills in the background, accidentally showing the areas around Santa Clarita, California.. When Donovan visits his son, Sean Donovan, and gives him the Visitor Key he found on the Shuttle, Mike drives into his ex’s driveway and parks.. But when Sean’s mother calls them inside for pizza and Mike walks over to talk to his ex, you can see Mike’s hired car parked on the street.. When Donovan sneaks aboard the transport and it takes him to the Mothership, it is supposed to take place in Los Angeles.. But the matte painting of the city used in the background as the transport enters the hanger is the same one used as New York during the first hour of the mini – series.. During the fight between Donovan and the Visitors ( Jerome ), the camera Donovan is holding looks like a fake made of Styrofoam or something.. Notice the pitted look of the surface.. During the fight between Donovan and the Visitors ( Jerome ), the crewman’s left eye is crooked.. During the gun fight between Donovan and a Shocktrooper outside Kristine Walsh’s place, after Donovan returns fire at the Shocktrooper up on the roof, the Shocktrooper fires one back at Mike just missing him.. The shot can be seen hitting the ground near him, but the metal of a fire hose on the wall next to him lights up as if hit.. Trivia: The opening scenes of El Salvador were shot at Indian Dunes in southern California.. This is the same location where the tragic accident took place that killed actor Vic Morrow and two children during the shooting of the Twilight Zone movie in 1982.. At 2:18, there is an aerial shot during the action of two men jumping into a vehicle.. This was actually just another angle of the same shot in which Donovan and Tony jump into the stripped down pickup a little later! The confrontation between the guerrilla camp leader and the helicopter gunship is recreated at the end of the second episode when Julie squares off against Diana’s attacking Skyfighter.. An old Hollywood trick is used during the guerrilla battle in El Salvador.. A damaged military attack helicopter disappears below the horizon of the camera just before an explosion indicates it has struck the ground and blown up.. Producers save a lot of money ( And helicopters!) that way.. The character ” Ham Tyler “ wasn’t introduced until V: The Final Battle ” Part One,” though it was Kenneth Johnson who created the character Ham Tyler.. Ham wasn’t meant to become the Ham Tyler we know from V: The Final Battle and V: The Original Series, but the character was in V: The Original Mini – Series.. At the beginning of Part One, when Mike Donovan and Tony Wah Chong Leonetti were in El Salvador, Ham Tyler was actually the one sitting in the co – pilot’s chair in the helicopter gunship that attacked the Rebels camp and was about to gun Donovan down.. Clete Roberts plays a Los Angeles area newsman … and was one in real life.. He was also well – known as a war correspondent during WWII and the Korean War, even playing himself in several episodes of the award – winning dramedy M*A*S*H*.. Likewise, Howard K. Smith was also a long – time newsman for, first CBS, then ABC news; on the V front, Smith goes on to provide reports from the Freedom Network at the beginning of many episodes of the V ongoing series.. Juliet Parrish reaches into a cage to remove a rat upon whom medical experiments have been conducted.. Julie calls the rat Algernon, the name of the mouse which is experimented upon in the Daniel Keyes novel Flowers for Algernon.. This may be an ironic allusion to the Visitor character of Diana, who will be seen to have performed scientific experiments on humans.. Dominique is best known as the older daughter in Poltergeist.. After this tragedy, the role of Robin went to Blair Tefkin.. During the sequence where the Maxwell family look up at the approaching Mothership, the close – ups are of Blair Tefkin, but the long – distance shots feature Dominique.. The meeting on top of the U.N. building occurs at 0100 Greenwich Mean Time ( 8 pm in New York ).. At the U.N. landing, the music heard as the Visitor shuttle descends to the rooftop was inspired by ” Mars, the Bringer of War “ from Gustav Holst’s orchestral suite The Planets.. When Donovan and Tony arrive at the U.N. and run into Kristine Walsh, Donovan comments, ” I thought I recognized your deck of cards..” Yet, he seems surprised back at her apartment when she admits she ” stacked the deck we drew from so we’d get the pool “ to be at the Visitor landing.. In the novelization, author A.C. Crispin may have noticed the same thing; Donovan’s dialog at the U.N. has changed to ” I thought I recognized your card in the pile downstairs..” This most likely means that each reporter threw their business card in a pile and the winners were chosen at ” random “ … of course, we learn that Kristine stacked the deck somehow.. The Visitor life – size shuttles were constructed as detachable sections so they could be reconfigured into different sized transports.. The Visitor transports were designed with a hooded cobra look to the front of them and a scaled look underneath to suggest the reptilian nature of the aliens.. John comments that unmanned probes have monitored Earth for quite a while, to learn Earth languages.. How long was this monitoring going on? Well in the novelization, Donovan asks this of John at the start of the Mothership tour, who replies only ” several of your solar years..” John comments that some of his Visitor colleagues are not as skilled at Earth languages as others and he hopes humanity will be patient with them, a small foreshadowing of the script to Willie’s difficulty with English later on.. Diana remarks that the Visitors have had gravity drive technology for about a hundred years.. The prop master designed the Visitors’ sunglasses with various densities to the lenses so that the actor’s eyes could be seen at some times and not at others as needed by the scene.. They were designed after the Papillion 2001 / S Model Sunglasses.. The idea of having many disparate characters who gradually all come together or have connections revealed was inspired by Johnson’s reading of Tolstoy’s War and Peace.. When the press is being escorted into the transport to begin the Mothership tour, two of the press names mentioned are Jeri Taylor and Sam Egan, both television producers and friends of Johnson.. Johnson comments that he tends to name characters after people he likes and sometimes villains after people he doesn’t! The interior shot of the Mothership in which Diana is explaining the gravity drive was shot in a Budweiser brewery in Van Nuys.. When Kristine urges Donovan to play the tape of their ship tour again, she says ” Play it again, Sam..” This is a reference to the phrase which has become an idiom in the English vernacular and is attributed as originating in the 1942 classic Casablanca, though it is never quite said that way in the film.. Johnson says he wrote the script in Iambic Meter.. The Richland Chemical Plant begins work with the Visitors three weeks after their arrival.. As the Visitors start to transport workers down to the Richland Chemical Plant of Arthur Dupres, Robin’s high school marching band plays a rendition of John Williams’ theme from the Star Wars films as the Visitors start to file out of the shuttles.. A lot of fans have always thought that Harmony was just an employee of the catering service that served the chemical plant.. But if you look closely at the catering truck, it actually says ” Harmy’s Gold Star Catering,” which means that Harmony is the owner / operator.. Willie originally learned Arabic but was then assigned to Los Angeles with little time to learn English.. After Willie has rescued Caleb from the leaking liquid nitrogen, the effect of blistering on the alien’s skin was done by adhering pieces of grapes to his skin and coloring with make – up! Martin refers to Steven as ” The Supervisor..” The Visitor Youth Program run by the Visitors for young humans is similar in name and function to the Hitler Youth program of Nazi Germany.. It provided a haven for disaffected youth while indoctrinating them to the cause of the Nazi Party.. The Visitor Youth group is designed for ages 12 – 20 years old.. Tony realizes that a couple of the scientists who have confessed to being part of the conspiracy against the Visitors have suddenly become left – handed when they were right – handed before, this is later explained as a side – effect of Diana’s conversion process.. The video game that Brian and Robin are playing together is ” Space Invaders “ for the Atari 2600 gaming console at the Maxwell house.. Ironic considering the Visitors are space invaders to the Earth.. Stanley Bernstein remarks that you need a special permit to make a long – distance phone call, and even then you usually can’t get through.. The John and Diana action figures owned by Josh were hand made for the scene.. Johnson still has them in his personal collection.. He also has the Visitor key that Donovan gives to Sean.. The Visitor Squad Vehicle which Sean and Josh can be seen playing with is, in actual fact, one of the filming miniatures.. Each phase of V had a new main music theme.. For the original mini-series, music is provided by Joe Harnell, possibly best known for his music from the Incredible Hulk TV series on which he worked with Kenneth Johnson.. The fight in the Visitor Jerome’s cramped quarters was inspired by the fight in the railroad car in the James Bond film From Russia With Love.. Although it’s never explicitly stated, it would appear that the network Donovan works for is NBC.. There were only three American broadcast networks when V was made and, when we see the network go offline, one of the technicians says ” so have the other two “ and we see a bank of screens with two of them labeled ABC and CBS.. How much time has passed since the Maxwell’s moved into the pool house and Daniel discovers Robin there? It seems like later the same day, at night, but then Daniel comments that sometimes Brian asks about her and wondered where she went and that Daniel himself wondered especially.. That statement makes it seem like several days have passed.. The company the Resistance members steal medical equipment from is called Stamos Pharmaceuticals.. The Resistance are able to defeat the Visitors with the help of Donovan´s stolen fighter craft.. Back at their hideout, Robin discovers that she is pregnant, and Brian is the father.. The Resistance have struck a huge blow against the Visitors, but the war is just beginning.. Detailed Synopsis: Donovan heads into San Pedro to find the town crumbled, deserted and virtual a ghost town.. It looks as if a battle took place there – and nobody lived to tell the tale.. But there is one survivor among the wreckage.. Heartbroken and searching, he finds Sean’s friend Josh Brooks.. He recounts to Mike how some fed – up people bombed a Visitor Shuttle.. Not long after that, Visitor craft swarmed down from the night sky and troopers rounded up everyone, including Sean and his mother.. He escaped by hiding in a back closet.. Donovan finds the key that he found on a Visitor Shuttle and give to Sean on his previous trip to San Pedro, thinking it might gain him access to find his son and the others.. He takes the key and Sean’s favourite baseball team hat.. He takes Josh with him and leaves town.. Having previously discovered that the Maxwells are hiding in his family’s pool house, Daniel Bernstein pours his family a glass of champagne to have with their breakfast as he makes a toast; to his engagement with Robin Maxwell.. The family, knowing that the Maxwell’s are hiding out in their pool house but not realising that Daniel knew, are a little concerned.. His father, Stanley, asks what Robin thinks about the engagement.. He says he hasn’t told her yet, but if she refuses he’ll turn in her whole family to the Visitors.. Abraham, ashamed of what his grandson has become and acting, picks up his glass and throws the champagne in Daniels face.. Abraham gets up from the table and walks out.. Daniel heads out to the pool house and forcefully grabs Robin as he pulls her out the door.. Robin tries to fight him off but he keeps forcing her out.. Robert and Kathleen Maxwell try to stop Daniel, trying to pull Robin from his grip.. This leads to a row as Daniel’s father intercedes and throws Daniel into the family pool to cool him off, but Daniel draws his Visitors sidearm on his father.. Lynn Bernstein screams out Daniels name, making Daniel hesitate.. Daniel storms off to report the rogue scientist family to his Visitor Youth Supervisor, Brian.. Meanwhile, Caleb and Elias Taylor watch as Ben’s coffin is brought out from the church and place in the back of a hearse after a very low key funeral service.. Willie and Harmony make their way up to them, as Willie removes his Visitors glasses.. Willie begins to tell Caleb that he is sorry for what has happened, but Caleb, knowing that it was the Visitors that killed Ben and emotions flying, pushes Willie over and tells him he doesn’t want his kind around.. Willie is unsure what to say or do, as he is confused with Caleb’s actions seeing that they had started to bond.. Later when the Visitor troops arrive at the Bernstein’s, they find the pool house empty, all except for Abraham, who is listening to some music.. The Maxwells have already been smuggled out with the help of a neighborhood gardener, Sancho.. They are being smuggled out in a hidden compartment in the back of Sancho’s pickup.. Stopping just before they reach a road block, Sancho, who has some experience running people across the border, gives Robert a bag of candy to try and stop Katie Maxwell from crying.. Heading to the road block, Sancho stops at a set of lights, where Mike Donovan’s mother, Eleanor Dupres, notices a child’s whimpering coming from the back of Sancho’s pickup.. Wanting to make a name of herself with the Visitors, Eleanor calls Steven at the Refinery and asks what she should do if she knew of a Scientist or such being smuggled out.. Having smuggled many people through the border, Sancho chews on a whole onion, making his breath smell to put the Police off.. Katie is still whimpering as Officers Randy Talbot and Bob Briggs make their way to the vehicle.. Briggs asks Sancho where is heading as Talbot moves to the rear of the pickup and searches the off cuttings from gardens.. Briggs asks him what the story is, and just as Randy was about to say it’s all good he pauses when he hears the whimpers of Katie.. Looking at Sancho in the mirror, Randy, a sympathetic police officer, lies to Bob and tells him it’s all clear.. Sancho and Randy give a knowing nod to one another in the mirror as Sancho drives on.. Elias, now a Resistance member after the death of his brother Ben, has found a place for the Resistance to set up a Headquarters.. It’s not the Beverly Hills Hotel, but has plenty of space and a tunnel that leads underneath the city to some nifty places.. Elias has begun to drop the street fug Richard Prior act.. He heads off to talk with the local gang, The Angels, as the new HQ is based in their territory.. Julie calls out to him, but when he turns, she has no words but silently shows her appreciation; Elias holds up a peace sign for Victory.. At the Bernstein’s residence, Daniel is home in a empty house.. The phone rings and he is informed that the Visitors, not being able to find the Maxwell’s, have settled for Daniel’s family and taken them into custody for questioning despite Daniel being promised they’d get amnesty.. He calls his mothers work and after trying to argue that she wasn’t at home either slow starts to realise that even his grandfather wasn’t around.. Meanwhile, Sancho is heading back through the roadblock but is stopped as Officer Briggs draws his weapon and Shocktroopers move in.. The search the pickup and discover the hidden compartment.. Later that night, Steven is over at Eleanor’s house again and gives her a gift as a token of his appreciation for her hospitality.. Mike Donovan, with Sean’s friend Josh, meets Tony and Tony’s wife, Fran Leonetti, at the Vitello’s Italian Restaurant, which was arranged during the coded conversation earlier.. Donovan organises for Fran to look after Josh and plans to sneak aboard the Mothership again to find out what happened to Sean and the others, and to see what else the Visitors plans are.. Tony mentions about a camp, like in El Salvador, where a group of doctors and other rebels are hold up and that he had heard of another group in the city somewhere but is unsure where.. Daniel, still home alone, stares at the empty seats around the dining table.. Brian explains that it was his superiors that ordered the arrest of his family for questioning, but that they will be returned soon.. When Daniel asks about his grandfather, Brian informs him that his grandfather isn’t doing to well but is being looked after by the Visitors doctors.. Trying to left Daniel’s spirits, Brian promotes him and gives him a promotion to Second In Command of the Visitor Youth Corp.. He also tells Daniel that Diana, after hearing about his loyalty, has given him a gift; a ring.. Mike and Tony attempt to stow away again on a Visitor Shuttle, where they watch prisoners, including the Bernstein’s and Sancho, being loaded into a shuttle, feeling helpless not to be able to do anything.. Unfortunately with the increased security the two men are seen and the Visitors open fire.. During the gun fight, Mike has to show Tony how to prime the Visitors rifle, seeing he has never handled one before.. After a scuffle, a Visitor sprays venom at Tony, blinding him as another stuns Donovan .. They are both taken to the Mothership as prisoners.. Meanwhile, Juliet Parrish, now walking with the support of a cane due to being shot in her hip, starts to organise the set up of the Resistance Headquarters.. Robert and Robin Maxwell join the cause, after finding out about the city movement, to offer assistance.. The rest of the Maxwell family are safe up at the mountain camp.. Julie learns that the fellow Resistance members have put her in charge, as they try and make the new Headquarters safe and livable, ready to bring down equipment from the camp.. She gives the Maxwell’s a quick tour.. Robin yearns to be outside; to have fun; to be with her friends; to be with Brian.. Julie, after Louise ( A fellow Resistance member ) couldn’t find the water cut off, finds the valve and tries to turn it off.. Hurting her hand as she tries and fails to turn the valve, Julie breaks down and starts to cry.. Ruby tries to comfort her by explaining why everyone looks to her as a leader.. Julie asks her what happens if she can’t trust her instincts, in which Ruby simply replies ” Fake it.. We won’t know the difference..” On board the Mothership, Donovan is woken up by Barbara, using a Visitor medical device.. When he comes to, Mike asks where Tony is.. But before Barbara can answer, Martin, escorted by a couple of Shocktroopers, opens the door and tells them that she is ready for them.. Mike, unsure who he is talking about, asks ” Who’s is?” He is taken to Diana’s ready room, where Diana begins to tell him that he has caused some problems for them.. But as she is speaking to them, Stanley Bernstein is escorted into the room.. Telling the Shocktrooper that she will be with them in a moment, she hits a switch that opens the door to a small room with a chair.. Mike, and Stanley, are shocked to see that this chair has restraints and tools for torture.. As the door closes behind Stanley, her aide, Martin, suggests to Diana, that instead of putting Donovan away, maybe he would be valuable to them, as a convert.. But Diana explains that her instincts tell her that Donovan will he be to difficult as a subject and that’s why she has decided not to bother.. She orders Martin to take Donovan to the ” Final Area..” Martin says that he thought she would find a difficult subject more appealing to Convert due to the challenge.. Diana takes the bait and agrees, decides to enjoy the challenge of Converting Donovan.. Martin begins to escort Donovan back the holding cell, as they hear the agonising screams of Stanley.. As they keep moving, Mike sees Kristine Walsh talking to a couple of Visitors in a small room.. Pressing on, Martin starts to tell Mike that they are going to get him off the Mothership.. Mike asks why he should believe him when a few minutes ago he talked Diana into Converting him.. Martin explains that he had to bide some time.. He continues to reveal that not all Visitors agree with what their Leader is doing.. Mike asks about Tony, as Martin tells him that Diana will do what ever it takes to get information.. Back at the Resistance Headquarters, Robin decides to wonder off.. As she does, Robin notices a Skyfighter and tries to avoid them.. Heading down an alley, Robin runs into a Shocktrooper.. Mike waits in the holding room for Martin but is surprised when Barbara enters the cell on behalf of Martin.. She explains that Martin couldn’t make it and starts to undress.. Mike is worried that the uniform won’t fit, but she assures Mike that it will stretch.. He asks why they are helping him and she tells him because it’s right.. She tells him that a Shuttle is on its way and that he should be able to slip aboard, if he keeps his glasses on and his mouth shut.. Handing him her weapon, Barbara tells him to shoot her, as they won’t believe her story if he doesn’t.. Mike, after checking on Barbara after shooting her, makes his way to the landing bay.. He sees Robin being escorted from a Shuttle as he jumps aboard the leaving Shuttle.. On board the shuttle Mike remains silent as a Shocktrooper says he hasn’t seen Mike around before and begins to question him.. As the Shuttle lands at the Refinery, Mike quickly departs the Shuttle as the Shocktrooper, still trying to get Mike to talk, starts to become suspicious.. Mike runs over to a moving truck and tosses the driver out as the Shocktrooper opens fire.. Mike floors it and drives the truck through the guarded gates.. Elias and the Angels gang are out defacing the Visitors propaganda posters, by spraying a red V over them as Abraham instructed a group of young kids to do ( As the V shows signs of Resistance ), when they spot Donovan on his own, in Barbara’s Visitor uniform, and believing he is actually a Visitor they set up a trap to capture him for observation.. They take him back to the Resistance Headquarters where they disarm him.. After being hit by Brad, Mike starts to abuse them when they notice that he doesn’t talk like a Visitor.. Julie recognizes Donovan and but isn’t sure whether he is a synthesizer or not seeing he was one of the first aboard the Mothership and worked in close proximity with the Visitors.. As Julie moves to help Mike with his injuries, he demands to know who is in charge and is surprised when they say that Julie is.. Mike explains why he is in a uniform and how he escaped with the help of a couple of Visitors, as Julie attends to his injury.. Donovan is surprised when Julie mentions the fact that he met with Kristine Walsh three nights earlier and asks how she knew.. Julie explains that she was outside.. Mike assures them that he is on the right side and reluctantly tells the Resistance what he saw and knows about the Visitors.. After seeing an artist sketch of Mike’s description, Robert Maxwell tries to explain that this could have happened here on Earth.. Explaining what happened when the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs caused, they try and come up with some ideas of what could used against the Visitors.. They all look to Julie again for ideas, who suggests that they undermine all Visitors activities; find out what the hidden agendas they have; and to find out more about their physicality to learn more about their weaknesses.. Also to let people know about the Visitors true reptilian nature, as the more people that know how alien they really are, the more they will want to fight.. Also to co – ordinate efforts with other groups that are fighting back.. As Julie begins to organise a list of targets to consider hitting, Robert realises that Robin is missing and goes looking for his missing daughter only to run into the same Visitor patrol.. The officer in charge recognizes Robert’s last name and realizes his daughter was captured earlier that day.. On board the Mothership, Diana is talking with Kristine Walsh as Brian enters after being summoned.. She farewells Kristine before telling Brian she needs his help.. Taking him into a viewing room, Diana reveals Robin pacing in a holding cell.. Knowing he is familiar with the human, Diana asks him if he is attracted to her.. Brian flatters Diana, and she realises how he has moved up fast through the ranks.. She explains that she wants his help with an experiment, a medical experience which is unusual and involves Robin and Brian, the Visitor who Robin has a crush on.. To impregnate her.. Meanwhile, Robert is still in custody, and after the contacting the Mothership in regards to Robert and Robin’s capture, the officer advises him that she is their prisoner on board the Mothership.. Asking if she is okay, the officer responses that it all depends on Robert.. That there is information they need, about the camp in the mountains.. Robert tells him he can’t tell them, and after the officer gives his pity and heads back in the shuttle, Robert has second thoughts.. Explaining that he has child too, the officer offers a deal to Robert: If Robert reveals the location of the mountain camp where the scientists are hiding, the Visitor will see to it that Robin is returned safely.. The Visitor sweetens the deal by assuring Robert that the mountain camp won’t be taken until 4 pm the next day, which should allow Robert enough time to retrieve his wife and other daughters from the camp.. But the catch is that Robert cannot tell anybody, or Robin will be put in danger.. With little choice in the matter, Robert provides the necessary information and is released.. Still on board the Mothership, Robin starts to become upset in the holding cell when Brian enters.. She pleads with him that she wants to go home, but as she does, he begins to kiss her.. Wanting this more than anything, Robin lets her passion take over her as Diana watches from the viewing room.. Back at Resistance Headquarters, the group makes plans to arm themselves by raiding a local armory the following day.. In addition, coordinated attacks at the Richland Refinery and elsewhere will provide diversions.. At the same time, Mike plans to return to the Mothership and learn what happened to the people of San Pedro – and to find his son plus to find out more about the Visitors plans.. As Caleb leads the Resistance in a pray, Robert begins to have second thoughts as guilt stirs in him.. The next day, Caleb and fellow Resistance Refinery workers, begin to place C4 around the Refinery as part of the diversion plan.. Accidentally treading on some chewing gum, Harmony leans against some pipes as she tries to remove the gum from the bottom of her shoe.. Looking up, Harmony sees a bomb ticking down.. Unsure what to do, she moves quickly away.. Mike Donovan, dressed in Barbara’s Visitor uniform, makes his way to a Squad Shuttle.. He jumps aboard, but is followed by the same Shocktrooper that opened fire on him earlier.. Mike adjusts his hat to try and blend in with the other Visitors, as the doors close.. As the Shuttle leaves, Harmony, still wondering what to do about the bomb, notices Willie move directly near it as he talks with another Visitor.. As the Visitor leaves, Harmony rins towards Willie yelling his name.. Willie turns and happy to see Harmony runs over to her.. Just as they reach one another, the bomb explodes.. They give each other an awkward look, as other explosives start to go off in a chain all around the Refinery.. On the Mothership, the shuttle Mike is on lands, and he quickly moves behind the Shocktrooper, who has been ordered to head back to the plant due to trouble.. But Mike sneaks off and makes his way through the corridors making his way to the underbelly of the ship.. Heading to one of the locked doors, Mike uses the Visitor key he gave to Sean.. Back in L.A., Ruby notices a Squad of Shocktroopers and police searching a group of young men, who were caught defacing the Visitor Friends posters by spraying red V‘s over them.. Reaching into her trolley as the troops have their back to her, Ruby pulls out a home made Molotov.. Lighting it, she says ” This one is for Abraham..” Revenging Abraham’s death in her own way, Ruby tosses the Molotov into the opened hatch of the Shuttle and quickly moves on.. The Shuttle explodes and Shocktroopers move in to try and catch the culprit.. One of the Police officers searching the young men is Officer Randy Talbot, who notices an old lady moving quickly away from the explosion.. He can’t help himself but laugh, as he tries to gain himself in front of the Visitors.. Mike, still moving through the maze of corridors on the Mothership, soon discovers a collection of huge storage tanks.. Making sure no Visitors could see him, he turns a tap on and sniffs the clear liquid that came out.. He then taste the liquid on his fingers, and realises that it is fresh water.. Apparently each of these huge containers are filled with water.. Meanwhile, the Resistance to head to the National Guard Armory.. A garbage truck leads the way as Elias, Robert and Julie follow in a moving truck.. Once they reach the entrance, they use the garbage truck as a battling ram to force their way through the gates.. Shocktroopers begin to open fire as Resistance fighters jump out from the back of the garbage truck.. They return fire, as some of the Resistance members, armed with mirrors, begin to reflect the sun into the faces of the Shocktroopers, blinding them, making it hard for them to aim.. As the rest of the Resistance hold of the Visitors, Elias reverses his truck and smashes through a garage.. Elias and Julie, with the help of a few Resistance members, start to load the truck with weapons from the armory.. Robert drags a injured fighter to the rear of the truck, as Julie moves in quickly to try and treat the injury.. But Robert, feeling guilty, admits his deal with the Visitor commander to Julie and races off to warn his family and Resistance in the mountain camp.. Robert runs out into the battle and jumps into a near by jeep, taking off quickly through the damaged gates.. The raid took its toll of Resistance casualties, but eventually they have what they came for and make an escape.. Back on the Mothership, Mike runs into Martin, who is surprised to see Donovan aboard.. Wanting to know what is going on, Mike asks Martin about the tanks down in the hold and about the chemical they have supposedly been manufacturing.. Surprised again that Mike had been to that part of the Mothership, Martin confirms that the chemicals being manufactured for the Visitors are really a smoke screen to hide the fact that the Visitors are stealing Earth’s water.. He explains that water is the rarest, most valuable commodity that he imagine and the fact the Earth, unlike most planets, the Visitor’s planet included, has an abundance of it.. They need it for sustenance as well as to power weapons, fusion generators back home and the Leader’s weapons.. Mike tells him that Earth would have shared it.. Martin explains that some of them suggested that, but the Leader wants it all.. Martin tells Mike that there are other ships, like this one, already on the way.. That it will take a generation to take all the water.. Mike says that Earth will become a desert and Humanity will die, but Martin says no, that there won’t be anyone left.. Hesitating, Martin tells Mike that there is something else he needs to show him.. Stanley, his arm heavily bandaged, and Lynn Bernstein finally arrive back home after their ordeal aboard the Mothership.. As they enter, they are greeted by their son, Daniel, dressed in his Youth Group uniform and with his weapon drawn.. He apoligises for them being arrested and asks where his grandfather is.. Lynn replies that they didn’t see him.. Daniel then notices his fathers arm and asks what happen.. Stanley blankly replies, ” I burned it..” Daniel leaves after a awkward silence.. Martin reveals the other secret of the Visitors: In another cavernous area of the Mothership, thousands upon thousands of Humans are being kept in suspended animation.. Martin tells Mike that some of the captives will be trained as troops to battle the Leader’s enemy.. Mike asks what enemy? Martin explains that it was force that has beat them before.. Mike becomes very interested in knowing more as it could mean that the enemy of our enemy could be our friend.. Realising that Martin said only some of the people will be trained as troops, he asks what about the rest of the people.. Martin begins to tell Mike that in addition to the shortage of water, there is another basic shortage on their planet.. Mike looks towards the thousands of people being stored when it hits him.. Food!! Martin guides Mike through the corridors, taking him to see Tony.. Mike asks how someone like the Leader comes to power and Martin compares it to being similar to here on Earth.. He also asks about how Barbara is doing.. As they reach a door, Martin reminds Mike that it won’t be pleasant for him.. Knowing that Diana worked on Tony, he prepares himself as they enter.. Seeing a body covered, Mike moves the sheet and sees Tony’s tortured face.. Covering Tony again, Mike asks Martin if it was Diana.. Martin confirms that it was, that she has ordered some medical experiments.. Mike angrily says that he wants to kill her, Martin says that he isn’t alone.. Just then they hear a groan coming from the corner of the room.. As Mike turns him, the injured Sancho asks who Mike is, who replies, a friend.. Urgent to take his terrifying news back to Earth, Mike heads to the landing bay with a badly – wounded Sancho in tow.. Martin meets him there with another prisoner who needs to be taken to safety, Robin, as she is being used to make Robert spy on the Resistance.. Martin wants to leave with them, but Mike stops him explaining that he would be more valuable to them on board the Mothership.. After a hesitant agreement from Martin and some quick instruction how to pilot a Skyfighter, Mike is about to take off when the Shocktrooper from earlier, recognizes Donovan.. Donovan takes off, zooming out of the landing bay – but they’re followed by two more shuttles in pursuit.. Mike tries to evade the Visitors fire as Sancho mans the rear laser weapon and shoots down one of the shuttles.. Back at on Earth, Robert is almost to the camp when the Visitors fly over his head to attack ahead of schedule under Diana’s command.. Robert reaches the camp as the Visitors begin their attack on the Resistance Moutain Camp, yelling out for his wife and kids.. Meanwhile Mike is still trying to evade the last Skyfighter.. Mike does some dare – devil flying as he flies their Skyfighter through a tunnel.. The last chasing Skyfighter, not realising til to late that a truck followed them into the tunnel, pulls up only to crash into the side of the hill.. As the Visitors continue their attack on the Mountain Camp, the two tuck loads of Resistance fighters that hit the armory earlier, arrive.. With the information provided by Robert, the Resistance have raced to the Mountain Camp to defend it with their newly – obtained weapons.. They start to hand out the weapons and begin fighting back, as Julie instructs that they need to save all the equipment in one of the buildings.. They shoot down two Skyfighters with bazookas – but the Visitors inflict much destruction and death.. Julie takes in all the death and destruction around her.. She rushes to help Josh Brooks struggling to drag a woman to safety.. Not knowing what she can do to help, Julie is caught in the open as a Diana’s Skyfighter closes in on the three humans.. Defiant, Julie stands up and aims her pistol, firing at the oncoming craft ( Much like the first episode’s opening scene in El Salvador ).. Just as the craft returns for another pass, another Skyfighter – piloted by Donovan – shows up and scores a damaging shot against Diana’s shuttle.. Diana, with half her human disguised face hanging off, orders a retreat and the mountain camp is safe for the moment.. In the aftermath of the battle, Robert discovers his wife is injured badly, and she dies in his arms.. Thinking that his whole family have been killed, Robert, emotionally hurting, picks up the sidearm laying next to his dead wife, Kathleen, and begins to aim it towards him.. Just as he is about to pull the trigger, Polly, yells out to him.. Turning around, Robert see’s Polly carrying Katie.. His drops the pistol and runs to his daughters, happy that they are safe, including Robin who is reunited with her family.. Mike tells Julie what he learned on the Mothership, and Julie suggests they will have to focus on destroying as many of the huge crafts as possible – risking thousands of lives to save millions or even billions.. A few days later back at the Resistance Headquarters, Robin, is setting up beds for her sisters.. Polly asks if she is still feeling sick, like she has been for the past few days.. Katie says that Robin reminds her of their mother, as they leave Robin alone.. Feeling the lost of her mother and her ordeal on the Mothership, Robin begins to become upset.. She looks into a mirror and feels her stomach, knowing that her time spent with Brian has left more than a memory.. Mike Donovan heads over to his mother’s, Eleanor Dupres, house, where he tries to explain what is happening.. That her grandson, Sean, and ten thousand people are being held aboard the Mothership.. Asking whether she even knows what has happened all week long, Mike keeps trying to make his point.. Eleanor simply says she’s that she isn’t a fool, that she’s a survivor.. She knows that the Visitors aren’t saints, but they are in power, they are power.. After telling her that he can’t sit around and do nothing, Mike leaves, only to be fired upon by patrolling Shocktroopers before escaping.. Robert Maxwell heads over to the Bernsteins, where he asks to use their house as a safe house.. Lynn Bernstein refuses, because of their son, Daniel, who is an informer, and the fact that they had tortured Stanley.. Robert tries to explain that this is why it’s perfect as lightening won’t strike twice, they won’t look there again.. Lynn still refuses as they were only let go to warn others what could happen, the next time they could be killed.. Robert tells them that they killed his wife Kathleen.. Robert tries to keep persuading them, as Lynn still argues her point, until a quiet Stanley Bernstein stands up and grabs a letter from a draw, handing it to his wife asking her to read it out aloud.. It was from Stanley’s father, Abraham, who has written a very moving letter which Stanley finishes reading the letter from memory as his wife breaks down and can’t move on.. They agree to help the Maxwell’s.. By the close of the episode, Julie sends a message into space intended for the enemy of the Visitors – hoping it might be an ally for Earth.. Their first battle is won, but the war is just beginning.. Elias reaches into his bag, pulling out a can of red spray paint and sprays a red V on the radio station door.. Bloopers: During the flash back, as Josh explains to Donovan what happen to the town, a pick up truck rounds the corner and shoots at the Skyfighter on the side of the road.. You see one of the attackers in the back of the pick up truck holding a stick of Dynamite.. He throws this into the Skyfighter which blows up.. But if you watch closely, the attacker doesn’t actually let go of the Dynamite stick.. The scene in which the Skyfighter blows up, during the flashback, is repeated from two different angles.. First from looking at the Skyfighter, as pick up disappears from screen, and secondly, from the angle of watching the pick up drive away.. During the scene in the Bernstein house, while Danny is pouring the champagne, you can see the reflection of the boom mike pole in the glass of the picture frame behind him.. When Mike escapes from the Visitor Mothership his chest wound from being shot by a Visitor is clearly visible, but later that same night at the Resistance hideout his shirt is open and the wound is gone.. When Donovan pulls a loop in the Skyfighter, the in – cockpit footage is simply shown reversed and upside down, since the cockpit mock – up could not be turned upside down.. The giveaway is that Robin’s hair does not fall downwards.. One of the extras playing an Angels gang member keeps looking at the camera.. We see that the makeshift medical room that the Resistance has set up has been labeled with a crudely painted sign that says M.A.S.H.. This stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, a term used by the U.S. Army for it’s mobile medical units in theaters of war.. In this case, it may be intended as more of a joke by the resistance members in recognition of the popular TV series called M*A*S*H which ran from 1972 – 1983 about the dedicated, but zany, doctors of just such an army medical unit during the Korean War.. During a shot of one of the Visitor Skyfighters strafing the mountain camp, the explosive ‘ squibs ‘ were wired in reverse.. The explosions were supposed to lead up to the building which explodes, but the building goes up first and then the explosions lead AWAY from the building.. The shot was kept in anyway, but was also re – done; the correct sequence can be seen a couple of minutes later! When the Ruby firebombs the Visitor Skyfighter, the scene changes from broad daylight to dusk, and then back to daylight again.. The three Visitors standing in front of the ‘ Valley Cleaners ‘ shop also disappear.. Trivia: Johnson still has the Visitor key that Donovan gives to Sean in his personal collection.. Watch out for the many water references leading up to Martin’s revelation.. After helping Julie and the Resistance find a headquarters in the L.A. area, Elias goes off to talk to the Angels, the local gang that controls the turf of the area.. He thinks he can get them to help, saying he is the ” Henry Kissinger of East L.A.” Former National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger was well – known at the time for his pragmatic foreign policy influence between the U.S. and other nations.. When Mike is brought to the Resistance Headquarters by Elias and the Angels, it has been three nights since his rendezvous and ambush at Kristine Walsh’s place.. The Resistance group’s overall plan of resistance is prioritized in four items: to undermine all Visitor activity; to discover the Visitors’ hidden goals; to learn more about the Visitors’ physiology and weaknesses; and to establish contact with other resistance cells.. Daniel gets a promotion to Brian’s second – in – command and gets a special ring said to be from Diana herself.. He can be seen wearing it for the rest of this Mini – Series, though he’s not wearing it during V: The Final Battle.. The miniatures were built by Greg Jean, who also built the original U.S.S. Enterprise model for Star Trek.. The El Tepeyac restaurant mentioned by Sancho at the roadblock is a real Mexican restaurant in East L.A.. Michael Swan, the actor playing the ” bad cop “, Officer Bob Briggs, at the roadblock was particularly known for frequenting the place, so Johnson threw the name in as a joke to him.. The V‘s on the walls of the Resistance Headquarters were painted by Johnson himself.. For the scene where Fifth Columnist Barbara removes her uniform to give to Donovan, actress Jenny Neumann had to practice removing it quickly without her underwear peeling off in the process.. Kenneth Johnson revealed that if the series had continued under his guidance, a relationship would have developed between Donovan and the Visitor, Barbara.. The Leader’s enemy is described by Martin simply as ” the enemy who has defeated him before..” The Leader rose to power thanks to charisma, circumstances, and promises.. Tony Leonetti died aboard the Mothership, apparently as the result of ” medical experiments “ authorized by Diana. Robin arrives on the Mothership just as Mike is escaping disguised in Barbara’s uniform.. They actually pass each other in the shuttle bay, but they have not yet met so they do not recognize each other.. Quotes: Josh Brooks: What is it? Juliet: The reality we have to face is that help may never come.. Elias: ( About the Visitors) They ain’t so tough.. Elias: ( To Juliet ) You are talking to the Henry Kissinger of East LA! Michael Donovan: You always said it couldn’t happen here … Then one day we woke up and we were living in a Fascist state.. Eleanor Dupres: I know the Visitors aren’t saints.. But they’re in power! They are power.. You and I are in unique positions, don’t you see that? Why not take advantage of … Tony: ( Calls out to a Visitor to distract him ) Excuse me! Hello, sorry to bother you like this, but I’m on my way to Korea and my shrimp boat gets a flat tire, so I could really use an inner tube.. ( Mike comes up from behind and kicks the distracted Visitor in the head ).. Daniel: ( Pouring champagne into a glass ) Champagne for breakfast.. Classy! Mike: ( Enraged ) That damn dragon lady can bend people’s minds! What the hell does she need a blowtorch for? Mike: Who’s in charge here? Juliet: Oh Ruby, I can’t handle this.. I’m supposed to be a scientist, a doctor.. Not a plumber or some kind of rebel.. They all look at me as if I know what to do.. Martin: You know Diana, rather than putting Mr. Donovan away, he might prove very useful to us as a convert.. Barbara: Martin couldn’t make it, so you’ll have to wear my uniform.. [ Planting a bomb ] Martin: The Leader wants them living.. Some of them will be made into troops for battles with his enemy.. Mike Donovan: How’d someone like that get to be your leader anyway?
