They came, they saw, they conquered primetime..
Has the promotional marketing for V: The New Series paid off? Going by the ratings from last nights ” Premier “ for the new series, ” Hell yeah!” V became the highest rated sci – fi premiere of the new fall TV season after the ” Pilot “ episode of the series, when overnight ratings ( Which could change based on national numbers ), showed that V was seen by 13.8 million viewers, and its rating, of a 5.0, among adults 18 – 49 was the highest of the night, even beating CBS powerhouse NCIS.. This morning when finalized, the rating have now jumped to 14.3 millionĀ and a 5.2 rating..

As mentioned, the number is still subject to some change, but it looks likely that this will be the biggest show to debut at 8 pm since another ABC sci – fi series, LOST..
To put that in perspective, FlashForward was ( Until now ) considered the hit of the season after 12.4 million people watched its first episode.. The ratings for V are likely to grow substantially once DVR viewership is added in, since sci – fi shows tend to benefit ( Or suffer?) most from DVR viewing.. For instance, the FlashForward premiere added nearly 2 million viewers after DVR viewing was accounted for..
North of the border, the Canadian invasion of the sci – fi drama V on Tuesday night turned into the top – rated new series for fall.. CTV netted 2.16 million total viewers as it simulcast the Stateside bow on ABC, according to BBM Canada audience data..
It marked the first show of the season to surpass 2 million viewers, pipping CBC‘s competition series Battle of the Blades ( 1.99 million ) and Global Television‘s debut of Glee ( 1.94 million ).. CTV said nearly 5 million Canadians saw some or all of V..
