V-the-new-series-logo1season 2

Great news for V fans!! Although it has not yet been made by ABC, according to TheHollywoodReporter and Deadline.com, V: The New Series has been picked up for a Second Season.. Although Season One was plagued by odd scheduling and behind – the – scenes shifts, ABC has seen enough from V to order a second season of the sci – fi drama..

V: The New Series premiered Tuesday 3rd November 2009 to big numbers, with a 5.2 rating in the 18 – 49 demographic and 14.3 million total viewers.. At the time, it was the highest rated debut of the 2009 – 10 season.. Unfortunately, a large percentage of those viewers didn’t return for the second week.. Episode two brought in a 3.8 rating and 10.7 million.. Week three dropped yet again, to a 3.1 rating and 9.26 million viewers.. Thankfully, the ratings decline leveled out from there, before taking a lengthy, planned, hiatus before its return in March 2010..

When V returned, the show’s ratings were understandably lower than they had been.. Still, the drop could have been far worse than it was – attracting a 2.8 rating and 7.03 million viewers.. The numbers later slipped to a low of a 1.9 rating and 4.87 million..

But now, in the final weeks of the season, V is starting to show a little growth.. Last week’s brought a 2.1 rating and 5.37 million viewers.. The show’s penultimate episode rose 14% in the ratings, and attracted a 2.3 rating and 5.69 million viewers.. These increases seem to mirror the growth in its lead – in’s viewership ( LOST ) but they are increases nonetheless..

V: The New Series – Season Two will most likely return for a mid – season replacement in January 2011 ( Though we could be lucky enough to get it in November again like the premier ), and it’s been all but confirmed that Season Two will contain thirteen ( 13 ) episodes, one more than the first season has.. Seeing as how Executive Producer and Showrunner, Scott Rosenbaum, was sure of a second season in the future, this is no surprise.. If the series holds a good rating over the thirteen ( 13 ) episodes, ABC will most likely call for a back nine ( 9 ) episodes, which will in turn give Season Two the regular twenty – two ( 22 ) episodes for the season..

V showrunner Scott Rosenbaum confirmed the pickup, thanking the show’s fans via Twitter..

ABC’s full schedule will be announced their Fall 2010 schedules on Tuesday 18th May during the network’s upfronts presentation to advertisers.. We will update with an Official Press Release or announcement once available..
