V-the-new-series-logo1season 2

V‘s Executive Producer, Scott Rosenbaum, has revealed that there will be ” shifting loyalties “ in V: The New Series Season Two..

Recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Rosenbaum suggested that the characters will face much more stress in future episodes.. Click on the image below to watch the ” First Part “ interview video..

The ” First Part “ of the interview, EW chats with Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ), Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ), Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ), Executive Producer Scott Rosenbaum and Morris Chestnut ( Ryan Nichols ).. The interview starts off with EW’s Michael Ausiello congratulating Elizabeth Mitchell on her Emmy nomination for LOST as they talk about her role and acceptance speech..

Moving onto V, the Cast and Scott Rosenbaum talk about getting over the growing pains of the first season and settling into the groove of the end of season, showing the potential of Season Two.. Morris Chestnut explains that it brought them closer as a cast and helped them grow into their roles which should make Season Two an exciting year.. As Joel Gretsch gives credit to Rosenbaum for pulling Season One together after joining behind – the – scenes half way through the season..

Rosenbaum explains how he came took over half way through Season One: ” I sorta came in middle and my goal was to try plant the seeds to create something that can last for a, hopefully, a really long time.. And I think if you watch the Season Finale, there’s some very strong choices for all the different characters..”

He continued: ” Coming off from that, just being in the Writers Room, we’ve had so many great stories that we’ve come with that we’re so excited to tell..”

” I’d say the last three episodes [ Of Season One ] are probably a good template for what the show will fell like moving forward..”

” What I want to do – and what [ The cast ] are so great at doing – is find the nerve endings in the characters and just squeeze them,” he said.. ” I think what’s going to happen is, they’re in a war.. And war changes people..”

He continued: ” When you talk about loyalty, I think it’s how are these characters going to react when they’re in a war and it’s life and death and they have to choose between themselves or possibly the greater good?? Which decision are they going to make??”

When asked about Season Two’s theme changing to ” loyalties,” early in Season Two, Rosenbaum explains: ” There will be, I think, a lot of loyalties shifting and a lot of maneuvering and then the question is when they fall, what side is everyone going to be on??”

Asked how importantly it is to air the show consecutive, Rosenbaum reveals: ” The plan is to run consecutive.. Actually, the first 6 [ Episodes ], I think, will air in November [ 2010 ] and then it’s Christmas so, I think, we’ll be off for two weeks, and then we’ll run the rest of the episodes..”

Rosenbaum promised that there will be a ” huge cliffhanger “ in the middle of the season and suggested that some of the dynamics of the show will change..

” The fun of this season is finally, I’m going to have [ The ] group led by Erica start to get a little bit ahead of [ Anna's group ] for the first time and start to figure out what their plans are,” he said.. ” So they’ll know what the red sky was, but the world won’t.. But it is the first shot of the war.. You will find out what it is at the end of the first episode but it’s such a big twist that I don’t want to give it away right now..”

The ” Second Part “ of the interview, EW chats with Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ) Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ), Scott Wolf ( Chad Decker ), Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) and Executive Producer Steve Pearlman.. Click on the image below to watch the ” Second Part “ interview video..

V: The New Series ended with the skies turning red, and the emotionless Anna discovering what it feels like to be overcome with human feelings.. According to Executive Producer and Writer Scott Rosenbaum, that’s only the beginning of the changes the series will undergo in its second season..

” I think that the biggest evolution that I’m sensing for the second season is that the mythology is going to become a lot more clear; the reasons why the Vs are here,” Rosenbaum told the press following Saturday’s panel at the San Diego Comic – Con.. ” How long they’ve been here, what their plans are – and once you know what their plan is, which was danced around, but not too clear in the first season, you’ll be able to see when things happen to screw up their plans..”

When asked what happened after Anna feels her first human emotion Rosenbaum replied, ” It starts in episode one, with the continuation of the Red Sky story, and an explanation of the fact that Anna felt human emotion for the first time, and unleashed the Red Sky early, how that really starts to screw up the whole plan that Anna had come up with.. So, I think that that probably, from just a pure story perspective, is probably the biggest evolution.. I think, beyond that, that there’s going to be turning up the dial a little bit on how far the Visitors are willing to go on certain things, and how far we as storytellers are willing to go.. We want to surprise the viewers.. Not like, ‘ Oh, Anna is Lisa’s mother,’ but surprise viewers with what the Visitors will actually do.. And what [ The human ] characters will actually do; I think there are some surprises that Erica has, that push her to doing things that you never think that, as a federal agent and a mother, that she would actually consider doing … and she does..”

Rosenbaum then talked elaborately about his plan of Chad.. ” [ Also ] I think that Chad is an interesting character.. We’re also going to meet Chad’s father, this year, in the middle of the season, and I think that meeting his father is going to shed some light on why Chad has made some of the decisions in his life that he has, and I think that in the first episode, we’ll get a very clear answer as to where Chad stands morally speaking, and then we’re going to be able to see the choices he makes throughout the season, and why he does something because it’s something he morally believes is right to do, or whether it’ll be something that’s a means to an end..”

It’s not only individuals who will be impacted by the show’s evolution; the human rebellion, the Fifth Column, will also – finally – become more of a force to reckon with … and they’re not the only faction who’ll cause trouble for the Visitors..

” The Fifth Column will develop further,” Rosenbaum said.. ” One of the things that we realized over the course of the first season was, if the Fifth Column is really going to be credible taking on the Vs, it can’t just be four people.. They have to expand, so there’s a new character introduced in the first episode who’s a scientist, who has information that fits into the developing puzzle and begins to answer the puzzle that is the Visitors.. There also is, in one of the early episodes, we’ll start to see this extreme version of the Fifth Column, and so we have the Visitors and ‘ our ‘ Fifth Column and a more radical version of the Fifth Column, so it puts our people in the middle, and they’re fighting the Visitors and the radical version, because the radical version is going much further than our people find comfortable..”

” The interesting thing, while we were watching the season finale on the air … I’ll usually watch it on the East Coast feed – not the show, people’s reactions to it on Facebook, their comments as it’s streaming on Facebook, and I thought, ‘ Oh, my God.. Everyone thinks Marcus is part of the Fifth Column now..’ And to be honest, that was not something that was intentional when it comes to the writing or the execution of that episode or that scene, but it was a very interesting thing that just kind of came out.. We will definitely start to see that maybe we don’t trust Marcus quite as much as we did in the first season, maybe that he has his own agenda … I don’t know if we’ll go as far as to say that he’s part of the Fifth Column, I don’t think that’s part of the plan, but I think we’ll start to see that he has a hidden agenda, and we’ll start to see part of that, as well..”

Most of Season Two has been mapped out in broad strokes, according to Executive Producer Steve Pearlman.. ” We start production in the middle of August, so we have scripts and stories for the first three episodes at this point.. But we have a map for the first thirteen episodes this season … and we could do as much as twenty episodes this year..”

Executive Producer Scott Rosenbaum revealed that, ” the Visitors have been here longer than one might have expected.. Their goal has been to be able to figure out … when we arrive, and when we get to Earth – to be set up to succeed.. They have planted seeds and done things ahead of time to ensure that the plan works perfectly..” Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) added that, ” they are planning to show a lot more of who we are..”

As a surprise reveal, producer Scott Rosenbaum shared that no one is safe and that fans should not get too attached to any one character.. To help ratchet up the octane on this series, lives will no longer just be put at risk, but lives will be lost.. After all, Earth is under attack whether it realizes it or not – and the body count will only continue to get higher.. War does not discriminate.. It will simply claim those that stand in its way or who are caught in the crossfire..

Despite the fact that so many intriguing sociological, theological and political ideas are currently being debated throughout V, the series also will try to keep the focus of the show on its ensemble cast and their increasingly interactive relationships..

The V Panel was held at 2:30pm on Saturday 24th July 2010 at the San Diego Comic – Con, which was presented in Ballroom 20..  In attendance was a star – studded cast which included Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ), Morris Chestnut ( Ryan Nichols ), Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ), Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ), Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ), Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ), Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) and Scott Wolf ( Chad Decker ), along with Executive Producers Scott Rosenbaum and Steve Pearlman..

When media reporters started lining up for the TV Panels at Comic – Con, in the wee early hours the morning, many asked nearby fans which cast they were waiting for.. A big portion of the crowd said they were already lining up for V.. Not that we ever doubted the dedication of Veeks alike.. Comic – Con goers were rewarded with lots of teases and tidbits on the upcoming season, and you get them right here without having to line up or anything..

So how is V: The New Series Season Two going to top Season One? Well during today’s panel at Comic – Con, Executive Producer Scott ( Skeeter ) Rosenbaum, promised that Season Two will be bigger and better in every way.. Rosenbaum acknowledged that ” not as many cards were turned over “ last season..

It’s no secret that V went through some serious behind – the – scene struggles its freshman year but with Rosenbaum solidly seated in the showrunner’s seat now, things are getting interesting.. One complaint some fans of the series had about the first season of the show was it felt too small in scope, given the situation.. Rosenbaum promised that Season Two of V would ” absolutely “ be bigger and that the network actually encouraged them to give the show more of an international feel, which everyone agreed was the right choice.. In fact, they’d recently sent crews to various parts of Europe and Asia to shoot footage that could be used as background for scenes they might like to spend in various countries down the line..

Lots of revelations are planned for season two, as well as tons of character backstory.. ” We’re going to see the true nature of what the visitors are about, and what they’re like underneath, so it’s going to be exciting,” says executive producer Scott Rosenbaum.. ” It will be chock full of great reveals,” Rosenbaum promises..

He also teased that Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) will look for the nurturing she’s not receiving from mother Anna ( Morena Baccarin ) by developing a closer relationship with Erica ( Elizabeth Mitchell ), while Tyler ( Logan Huffman ) will return the favor by saddling up with Anna..

Most importantly, fans will finally get to meet Anna’s mother, who will make her entrance at the end of the first episode.. Rosenbaum hinted that this character was perhaps the most important among several new characters we’ll be meeting this year.. Later, a question was asked about whether we’d go to the Visitors’ home planet, and Rosenbaum said we’d certainly learn more about them – which is when he began a sentence with, ” When we meet Diana …”

This got a big reaction, and Rosenbaum admitted he’d just accidentally given away that yes, Anna’s mother will share the name with an iconic character from the original V.. Even before we knew this fact, Rosenbaum was asked during the panel if perhaps Jane Badler, who played Diana in V: The Original Mini – Series, could play Anna’s mother.. Rosenbaum wouldn’t commit to this, though he did say ” We’re going to cast the best actor and she is certainly someone we’re thinking about,” said Rosenbaum.. ” I don’t know if she’ll be Anna’s mother, but I’d like to have her be in the show this season..” Word is that Producers are talking to Jane Badler, the original alien baddie in the 1983 version of V..

So is the name a coincidence? ” When I was pitching the concept to the network and the studio on who this character was, it was easiest to frame it in terms of if it’s her mother, is it possible that [ It's the one ] from the ’80s series?” Rosenbaum said after the panel..

Season Two will uncover a lot more mysteries about the Visitors.. What the V‘s really look like.. How long they’ve been here.. And the V‘s true reasons for coming to Earth.. More about the Visitors under Anna’s leadership.. How their extended stay has changed world events and why they’re planning to stick around..

So what else was revealed for Season Two, well in no particular order:

In regards to the ” Red Sky “ in the Season One finale, ” You will find out what the red sky means at the end of the season premiere,” Scott promises..

Viewers will be treated to a piece of the V‘s home world.. ” When we meet Diana, she’ll be in her natural habitat,” reveals Rosenbaum.. It’s through ” Diana,” ( Anna’s mother ) viewers will see where the Visitors came from.. We’re going to meet Diana towards the end of the first episode of Season Two..

Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ) was asked if there will be more ” Action Jack “ next season.. At this point, Rosenbaum steps in and says that, yes, viewers will see more of a ” Soldier Priest “ than the ” Priest Soldier “ we saw in Season One.. We can only assume Jack will be giving a little less conversation and a little more action come next season.. Though Jack started out as a man of peace, his main challenge this year will be maintaining that morality.. The show is interested in pursuing what happens when mankind’s moral compasses ( Such as priests ) start losing their morality.. ” Jack is on the far end of the spectrum as a man of peace and God, so his challenge is to be able to maintain that..” Rosenbaum likened his underground man of God to the ” moral spine “ of humanity that the Visitors are so intent on breaking.. Father Jack will continue to question his faith and his belief that peace cannot be accomplished through armed Resistance..

Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ) was asked about the strong characters she has played before; what makes Erica unique? She laughs, because she usually thinks of Erica the same as the other women.. She does say that Erica’s humanity is a major focus for her..

Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) is asked about her V offsprings being destroyed, and her subsequent scream, the first emotion she has shown.. She responds that Anna will face an interesting conflict all season after the death of her eggs.. ” It will take her closer to humanity than she wants to be,” Morena says.. Anna has a very ” slow and devious “ plan for mankind; the red sky is the first strike, and the meaning of that ominous coloring will be revealed in the first episode of the season premiere..

Erica and Anna will find that they have one thing in common: They are both losing their children.. Just as Tyler is seduced by the advanced technology of the Visitors, Lisa will continue to be handicapped by her emotions and empathy for the humans.. This will push each further away from their own mothers and into the waiting arms of a surrogate mother figure.. Tyler will align with Anna and Lisa will align with Erica – at least for a time.. Children are fickle and their attraction and desire to find something relatable and to fill the void in their hearts will draw them into worlds diametrically opposite from anything they have ever known..

Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) will look towards Erica as a nurturing mother figure, while Tyler will be drawn closer to Anna; we’ll find out exactly why Anna is so obsessed with Tyler, and whether either woman will use the others child as leverage in the war..

” Lizard love is the best love!” says the beautiful Morena Baccarin rocking a blonde head of hair.. We will be finding out why she seems to be so interested in Tyler..

Was Scott Wolf’s ( Chad Decker ) character’s aneurysm real? It’s not entirely clear.. Is Chad Decker still interested in furthering his career, or is he looking for ” lizard love?” Wolf says yes, ” lizard canoodling “ with Anna would be worth it even if she bit his head off.. He suggests that Anna’s connection to humanity has much more to do with her attraction to Chad.. He also mentions that Chad will choose an allegiance next season and that people may be surprised to discover what side Chad ends up fighting on..

We’ll also get to meet Chad’s father mid season, which will shed some light on why Chad has made some of the decisions in his life that he has..

What was the purpose of killing Ryan’s ( Morris Chestnut ) wife, Val ( Lourdes Benedicto )? Rosenbaum says that it was necessary for Anna to make Ryan see the bad sides of humanity so he’ll again be susceptible to Anna’s bliss.. So Val really is dead.. She will not be returning for Season Two..

Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ) is asked if whether a Tyler will mend the rift with his father.. He hopes so, because shooting with Nicholas Lea ( Joe Evans ) was a lot of fun.. Tyler’s father, Joe Evans ( Nicholas Lea ), will be back in Season Two.. Tyler will also find out who his birth father is..

Rosenbaum reveals that as the Fifth Column expands, they are going to meet a ” pretty radical “ group of other Fifth Columns, which will cause conflict, as they have a very different means of dealing with the war..

Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ) announced at he is coming back as a series regular for Season Two and will take a more prominent role on the show.. Will Hobbes be forced to choose sides in the impending war? It appears that he’ll have to do just that.. Just exactly where on the spectrum of good and evil he falls is not yet determined.. ” He’s seen the V‘s as a real threat and the humans will have to do something about.. In Season Two, we’ll see which way he goes,” Scott Rosenbaum spills..

In a maneuver that shocked everyone last season he sold out the Resistance for a hefty sum of money.. But like Judas, he may ultimately regret taking the 30 pieces of silver in exchange for the lives of his new – found friends..

Hobbs may not yet realize it, but Erica, Jack, and Ryan have become a quasi – family for him.. Hobbs surprisingly has trusted them enough to invite them into his life and once they are excluded he may be surprised to realize how much he needed them.. They are not only the voice of reason, but the voice of humanity – and if Hobbs wants to retain his humanity, he will need to quickly decide which side he is on.. He will also begin to recognize that money is no longer the currency that it was before the arrival of the Visitors.. Such intangibles as loyalty, love and friendship may become the currency of the day in which he will suddenly find himself craving and seeking out.. Man cannot live by money alone.. Man must have human connections or longevity will be pointless..

Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ) is asked whether Lisa is up to the challenge to be the possibile savior of humanity.. Yes, but she can’t say whether she will actually be that savior..

What is the dynamic between Erica and Anna next season? Rosenbaum said that the show is about two mothers battling for their children, and how far they are willing to go to protect their own.. There will be a burgeoning relationship between Erica and Lisa, while Tyler will be pushed towards Anna.. So, how do these women use, or not use, their new wards? Will the V‘s world be seen? Rosenbaum says that yes, when Diana, Anna’s mother, is seen, it will be in their home world.. ( This was actually an error by Rosenbaum who spoiled the name of Anna’s mom )..

What was the most shocking things for the cast? For Vandervoort, it was finding out Lisa was Anna’s daughter.. For Baccarin, it was killing Val.. Mitchell revealed that the audience will find out, definitively, why Anna is so interested in Tyler.. Rosenbaum expanded on this, saying that they are not trying to be cute about the show’s mythology.. In other words, Season Two will answer questions about the V‘s past, and their long – planned invasion of Earth, which are apparently ” very creepy..”

Will the V / human hybrid baby be central? Ryan’s child ” was not meant to be;” but Anna will use child for her ” devious advantage “ says Rosenbaum.. The hybrid is a way to manipulate Ryan.. ” The hybrid baby is another weapon, as Anna would look at it, in her arsenal..” Rosenbaum explained that her demise was a necessary power play for Anna, in her attempt to gain leverage over Ryan..  The conflicted father – to – be, seduced by the joys of human emotion needed to experience pain and suffering, another common aspect of humanity, in order to get him to return to V – dom..”

So is he Ryan now an enemy of the Fifth Column?  Said Morris Chestnut, ” I don’t know, I think Ryan responds to the bliss depending on what kind of dress Anna is wearing..”

We’re going to find out how long the Vs have been here and whether and how they’ve changed world history.. We will find out more about how long the Vs have been putting sleeper agents on Earth.. Rosenbaum pondered, ” Have they been here in the 40s, the 50s, the 60s? Has their presence changed world events in ways we can’t imagine?” We will also find out exactly what the Visitors are, physically – whether we can truly define them as lizards or perhaps a combination of species..

Scott Rosenbaum wouldn’t say whether John May would return in Season Two..

V returns in November 2010 on ABC..

And finally, will the audience see the global impact of the V invasion? Absolutely.. While it is great to focus on the immediate concerns of those in New York, the global effect of the invasion is of major importance and will have consequences for all the characters.. We will see more of the Fifth Column around the world.. ” We’re going to be moving around more internationally,” says Rosenbaum.. The show will enjoy a global scope in season two, with footage shot in Europe and Asia.. So prepare to get global..

What do you think of V ‘s new direction? Are you on board?

ABC‘s V will be holding a panel discussion with its cast at Comic – Con this Saturday in San Diego ( 2:30 pm in Ballroom 20 ).. While it’s sure to be exciting, I’ve already received some early intel on two new characters joining the sci – fi series in its second season..

On the ground, a radical anti – Visitors Fifth Column sect will emerge, headed by a leader the show is currently casting..

But the new role that has me most jazzed: the mother of devilish V leader Anna ( Morena Baccarin ) will be making her debut.. Could this part possibly go to Jane Badler, who played the wicked Diana in the original 1980′s V? Executive Producer Scott Rosenbaum recently told me he was looking to bring in some of the stars from the Original series, so wouldn’t casting Badler make perfect sense? I can only imagine the sparks that would fly if Diana and Anna ended up in the same ‘ mother ‘ ship.. Diana is about the only being I can think of who could possibly put Anna in her place, and then take granddaughter Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) out for a gerbil burger..

Janev

This is a really interesting turn of events.. I actually mentioned this role for Jane Badler ages ago.. You can read more about it here..

300-x-300-scott rosenbaum

WEBSITE: UGO.com

WRITTEN BY: Alex Zalben

DIRECT LINK: http://www.ugo.com/tv/v-scott-rosenbaum-interview

UGO: What was your mission statement going into V, taking over from Scott Peters?
Scott Rosenbaum:
The hope was to continue the great work he was already doing and at the same time, add my spin to it.. I wanted to add more action, more Visitor mythology reveals, and get to know the characters more.. I want the show to be a sci – fi action piece ala Aliens..

UGO: Several episodes in, how do you feel that’s holding up?
SR:
I think we’re doing a good job.. It’s always tricky at first because you inherit a show that has a lot of rules and story’s already in place.. You don’t want to just completely change things over night, you have to slowly move into the new while honoring the old.. The show’s getting there and season two will be explosive..

UGO: It feels like a very different show pre and post break.. Do you feel like the tone you’ve got going right now is where the show will continue to live?
SR:
Yes.. I think the show needs to have a gritty, realistic feel.. We are at war, it’s a wartime show, and there are going to be tough choices made, lives at risk, and people under stress who will do things they normally may have not..

UGO: Let’s talk about the main characters, give us a rundown of where they are, and where they’re going:
SR:
Erica – Erica is in a battle for her son and humanity.. Tyler’s been chosen by Anna for a reason she doesn’t understand or know but she’s going to have to find out.. Erica is at first a character that isn’t ready to put both feet in the fight so to speak, but season end, she will be ” all in..”

Ryan – Ryan is at a crossroads.. He’s kept his identity to Val a secret because he thought it would protect her.. He was wrong.. The secrets only make things worse and now Ryan is going to have to fight out a much bigger hole he ever thought he would.. Ryan will also learn that fighting the V’s, Anna and bliss is much harder than he ever thought..

Father Jack – Jack’s in a place where he needs to truly find out what his place in this war is.. As a priest he in some ways has his hands tied, or at least he thinks.. By the end of the Season however, Jack is going to become more a ” soldier – priest “ than a ” priest – soldier..”

Tyler – Tyler’s infatuation with Lisa and all things V has made him vulnerable to their manipulation.. He’s unaware of the fact that they hold an even higher purpose for him and he is going to find himself placed in the middle of a very difficult situation..

Chad – Chad’s playing with fire.. He’s got one foot in the Fifth Column camp and one foot in Anna’s.. He better be careful or he’ll get burned..

Hobbes – Hobbes a man you don’t want to mess with.. The V’s are messing with him, and trust me, he’s going to take the gloves off and sparks will fly..

UGO: One thing you added in was that the V’s are, essentially, emotionless.. Why was this necessary?
SR:
The V’s are emotionless because emotions don’t serve a warring species well.. Emotions can cause you to have empathy, love and feelings.. The V’s are all about the perpetuity of their species and a lack of conscience makes them more frightening, powerful, and hard to stop..

UGO: Another idea that existed P.R. ( Pre – Rosenbaum ) was that the show was a pretty clear critique of the Obama administration.. Do you feel like that’s still there, or has the show shifted focus?
SR:
The show is not a critique of the Obama Administration.. It merely in many ways reflects our world, the time we live in, and the choices human beings make for a multiple of reasons.. What’s interesting is some people point to show as a critique of the Obama Administration but just as many say it’s a critique of GW Bush’s Administration.. I guess in life, we all see things from different POV’s but that’s what makes things interesting..

UGO: Episode Four ended with the reveal of an invasion fleet on the other side of the galaxy.. How soon are we going to see them getting here?
SR:
They will arrive at the first season’s end..

UGO: A lot of fans have commented on the treatment of the FBI in the show, that they’re dependant on the Vs, let terrorists into their offices, and generally are a bit hapless..
SR:
There is no one I respect as much as our law enforcement and military.. To that extent, Federal law is absolutely necessary.. The show I think, reflects the difficulty of Federal, and even State law, in that often times are police, politicians and military have their hands tied by public opinion.. The V’s are using this to their advantage, as do other terrorist groups, because they know our great country is based on freedoms and popular vote.. In my mind the FBI would never let the V’s have any control of their offices – but people love the V’s, don’t want them to leave, so the government feels in order to keep them here they agree to let them help.. Big mistake, but, public pressure will do that to you..

UGO: Clearly one of the big current plot points is the army of V soldiers Anna is breeding.. Given the budget limitations of television, how much of an army are we going to see? How much of a battle are we going to see?
SR:
The finale will answer some of these questions.. However, we are going to see a lot more of the V soldiers and their army in Season Two.. Also, when the battle starts, we will see the battle.. We do have budget limitations but we’ll figure it out..

UGO: We’ve had a lot of nerdtastic guest stars on the show, from Alan Tudyk to Michael Trucco.. Who else are we going to see coming up?
SR:
Season Two we’ll definitely have a lot more.. I enjoy this type of casting and it will continue..

UGO: Are we going to see The Fifth Column and the Visitors in a détente for the rest of the show, or could we end up in total global apocalypse territory – or somewhere in between?
SR:
I’ll only say this – before any détente – there will be blood..

UGO: And when are we going to get to see the Visitors sans human skin?
SR:
Season Two..

UGO: It’s a pretty crowded landscape out there, especially for sci – fi and genre shows.. To sum up, what makes V unique?
SR:
What makes V unique is the expanse of the canvas it provides.. We can tell stories about the V’s on the ship.. V’s on Earth.. V’s on other planets.. There’s also so much mythology.. Where they came from? Why are they here? And what they plan to do with us.. On top of that we have the human perspective.. The story’s are really limitless..

UGO: And a very important question to end with.. Are we ever going to see Anna and Chad get it on?
SR:
Yes.. But you’ll have to wait and see..

” John May “ was the episode that fixed all my complaints about ” Welcome to the War..” I found myself actually caring about the characters and their struggles.. First, though, I would like to take a moment to remember Georgie, who died a valiant death that was one of the saddest I’ve seen on television in a long time.. Perhaps the person who was most dedicated to taking down the Vs, I had figured Georgie would die simply because he wasn’t a member of the main cast.. However, that didn’t make his death any less emotionally taxing, and I was really sad to see him go.. However, it was the best death that the character possibly could have gotten: to go on his own terms before he could compromise his friends.. David Richmond – Peck really did a good job with the character, and I hope we’ll get to see him in some capacity in the future.. After all, Georgie did tell Father Jack he’d ” see him around..”

The episode, however, mostly focused on Ryan Nichols ( Morris Chestnut ) as he flashed back to his past – and eventual murder – of John May, the resistance fighter.. After all, we had to find out how Ryan defected sometime, and John May’s recruitment of Ryan wasn’t sugar-coated.. After all, Ryan didn’t fully change sides until he was at John’s funeral.. Of course, this entire storyline gives a tinge of irony to the phrase ” John May Lives,” but it also gives May a much larger – than – life effect than he had ( In our eyes ) before this episode..

Imagine having to explain that to John May’s stepson, which is exactly what Ryan had to do in this episode in the present time, after Erica fought off the stepson’s clawed, V – in – disguise girlfriend.. This was all in keeping with the plan to rescue Georgie, which, as you know by now, failed..

Ryan had bigger fish to fry than John May’s stepson, though.. His girlfriend, Valerie, found a safe full of his secrets in their closet ( By horrible, horrible coincidence ), including the real ultrasound of her tailed baby.. Ignoring Ryan’s call, she left, taking the files and going on the run.. I expect that she’ll play a pretty major part in the next episode, and I’m interested to see who she turns to.. My guess? The OBGYN who was secretly helping Ryan falsify the ultrasounds to Valerie..

Erica had a similar problem with Tyler, who found out that who he thought was his dad wasn’t really.. After finding this out ( Prodded by the conniving Lisa ), Tyler confronted his mother at home.. Despite her pleading with him to understand that she didn’t think the tests were right ( It really is awful to see Elizabeth Mitchell cry ), Tyler decided to run into his room and scream “I thought I could trust you!” at his mother.. That usually solves all your problems, Tyler.. ( Of course, as we saw from the promo, he’s going to get some other problems solved by Lisa )..

The episode was, overall, a huge improvement from the show’s return two episodes ago.. Will it be enough to keep the series afloat? I’m not sure, but it was definitely worthy of an A-..
