The roller Coaster ride continues for Veeks as ABC screws us again.. First, the show was in danger of being canceled – but it survived!! Second, word came the series would come mid – season – a downer, but still, it was a second season.. Third, instead of launching in late fall, the premiere date was pushed back to January.. Now comes even more bad news: the network has now reportedly reduced the number of episodes ordered for the forthcoming Season Two of V..

Deadline.com has claimed that Season Two will now consist of just 10 episodes, instead of the 13 episodes that had been ordered.. Deadline.com’s, Nellie Andreeva, reported:

I hear the order of ABC‘s sophomore sci – fi drama V is being reduced from 13 to 10 episodes.. ABC last week announced that V will return January 4 and will air in Dancing with the Stars‘ result show slot at 9 PM on Tuesdays, following fellow sci – fi drama No Ordinary Family.. That gives V a 12 – episode window until the spring season premiere of Dancing on March 29, but I hear the period is expected to include 2 preemption’s, leading to V‘s order getting trimmed.. Since the series is still filming, V producers will adjust the storyline for a proper season ending..

Due to ABC wanting to lean towards Realshitty ( Reality ) TV, V Season Two, has been pushed back to a early January 2011 premiere.. Thus resulting in the network cutting short V‘s second season because ABC had no room for 13 episodes in its schedules.. V was originally intended to return around the 9th November 2010, where they would air the first 6 episodes before having a two week break for Christmas and New Year, then return on the 4th January 2011, where it would continue to show the remainder 7 episodes of the ordered 13 episodes of Season Two; but ABC has now delayed its return until 4th January 2011..

Veeks will be having flashbacks to last year when the series suffered a number of set – backs.. It’s hard to imagine ABC likes or knows what to do with V based on the way they’re treating the sci – fi reboot with yet another move seemingly designed to sabotage the show rather than allow it to flourish.. ABC decided not to air all 12 episodes comprising the first season together instead splitting them with four airing in November 2009 as a mini – series and then was followed by a multi-month hiatus.. The remainder of Season One aired from the end of March 2010; this was seen as a sign by some that ABC had lost faith in the series.. By the time V returned, many of its viewers did not despite an incredibly annoying countdown timer ABC ran during an episode of LOST in that show’s final season.. If anything ABC‘s publicity tactics backfired and turned irate LOST fans off from the show..

Though ABC has a proven record that they are not supporters of sci – fi television, so what can we expect.. I, for one, wish that ABC would stop canceling good series like Kyle XY and The Sarah Conner Chronicles or leave them alone and let another network like the SYFY Channel air them..

Cast and crew have gone back to the sets to film the rest of Season One of V: The New Series.. They made their back to Vancouver, where the Winter Olympics has just finished up with the Closing Ceremonies.. During the course of the Closing Ceremony, there was a V connection made.. Even a memorable appearance by the legend Captain James T. Kirk, William Shatner..

The Montreal born Shatner also has ties with V.. Shatner is the father – in – law of V star Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack ).. Gretsch is married to Shatner’s daughter Melanie, and have two daughters together.. Zap2It got to recent chat with Gretsch..

” The whole family was in town.. We got to see a few events together.. It’s such an honor, the Olympics … come on, you’re part of the Olympics, representing your country, that you grew up in, it was a beautiful moment.. I was happy for the family to be able to share it with him..”

When Gretsch was asked whether Shatner will be making an appearance on V, Gretsch said he can’t guarantee he’ll ever appear on V..

” Yeah,” Gretsch says, ” I’ve got an in.. He’s so busy.. He’s got 50 different projects going on right now.. I think its unlikely, but if a role comes up, and they would ask him, if he’d be up for it … He’s just one of those guys, you know?”

The V Files has caught hold of a rumor that a big celebrity will be coming into the show at some point.. Could Shatner fit that role? He wouldn’t be the first Trekkie to join V.. As we reported earlier, Jonathan Frakes, best known for his role as Commander William T. Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation, will be beaming aboard the crew as Director.. Frakes is directing Episode 1.06 for V: The New Series, which went into production on the 16th February, and will continue through til the 25th February, which will be aired on Tuesday 6th April 2010..

ABC was planning to promote V: The New Series by sending skywriters to write “ V ” in red around famous landmarks around 26 cities, including the Golden Gate Bridge.. In response to a constituent concerned about the environmental and visual impact of this, Supervisor Bevan Dufty has fired off letters to the city, the bridge authority and the FAA..

Fans have been looking to the sky for any sign of the red V, but are still yet to see them.. An ABC spokesperson said network has simply decided to spend its money in other ways..

This came after the backlash from a report that Washington Post reporter, Lisa de Moraes, wrote.. The reporter estimated the amount of pollution the skywriting campaign would cause ( 800 grams of lead, three tons of CO2, etc ), and noted ABC’s parent company Disney had recently promised to cut its fuel emissions in half by 2012..

Since posting the first draft of this update, fans have expressed dismay that ABC is not going through with the stunt which, at the very least, was a clever idea that would have garnered the show plenty of attention.. What would have seen? How about something like this..

Rumors

The Rumor: The V Files has been given a little heads up.. Rumor has it that V: The New Series, will start filming in August.. This would work as it’ll give the writers and team a break now, which will lead to better written episodes.. It’ll give writers more time to develop the scripts and digest focus group feedback.. HD Films twitter had this to say:

Looks like ” V ” will get going in August! It seems unreal!

Still looks like a mid – season January start for V: The New Series, but we’ll keep you updated to when it’ll start screening..
