Yes, a few actors found themselves out of work as a result of the take – no – prisoners V season finale that aired Tuesday night.. But at least one cast member is staring at double duty should the ABC series get renewed for a third season.. That’s right, the answer to this recent TVLine Blind Item is Laura Vandervoort, who now is playing imprisoned Lisa as well as Anna’s new, rapidly aged and rather eeeevil offspring.. ( You could say that this blonde beauty is a real man – eater ) TVLine spoke with Vandervoort just before showtime about her dual role..

TVLine: You know, I asked your ” mom,” Morena Baccarin, two weeks ago, ” Is Anna’s new daughter going to grow up to look just like Laura Vandervoort??”
Laura Vandervoort: And what’d she say??

TVL: She simply laughed and said, ” You might be onto something there!!” How far into the season did they tell you??
LV: They didn’t!! We find out about everything a few days before we start shooting.. I didn’t even know I was Anna’s [ New ] daughter until we got the script.. We just go by the seat of our pants here.. But I had a lot of fun playing what you saw tonight..

TVL: What was your first question for the writers once you did get wind of the evil twin??
LV: I wanted to know if they were going to kill off the original Lisa next season and just keep bad Lisa, because I was having so much fun playing [ The original ].. And I wanted to know, ” How different do you want her to be?? How similar to Anna do you want her to be?? How far can I go with how evil she is??” I was just so excited to have a chance to play two characters..

TVL: Yeah, as an actor I imagine it’s …
LV: A dream come true.. It is. There’s that one particular sequence where Lisa is forced to watch ” Lisa 2.0 “ slaughter Tyler, which was just horrifying for her.. I was excited about how that could come across, cutting back and forth between the two characters..

TVL: What do you know so far about 2.0?s disposition?? Is it just ” evil “??
LV: She’s pure, newborn lizard – flesh evil.. She hasn’t had a chance to develop emotions, so she’s possibly more evil than Anna.. Who knows, maybe Lisa 2.0 can become even more dominant than Anna, Lisa and Diana all together?? Maybe she’ll be the one to take the throne??

TVL: This Lisa is basically everything Anna wanted in a daughter, and more..
LV: She’s exactly what Anna’s been wanting the original Lisa to be.. She’s really her foot solider.. But what’d be great is if 2.0 decides she has had enough and she wants to rule!!

TVL: OK, OK, slow down.. Let’s give it at least another half – season..
LV: Oh, c’mon!! But really, there are so many ways we could go with it.. If we get a third season, there’s so much I can do and so many storylines we can get from it..

TVL: Because of this, you of all people must be especially anxious about the prospect of a Season Three..
LV: We’re all excited, but if we have one, I’m definitely looking forward to doing more than I had in the past with Lisa.. If we do continue, it should be a lot of fun..

TVL: How will you be keeping busy in the meantime??
LV: I’m about to start a Christmas – themed romantic comedy for ABC Family, with Nick Zano ( What I Like About You ).. The closest thing I’ve done to something like this is This Means War ( Due in theaters later this year and starring Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon and Tom Hardy ), and that’s more of a straight comedy.. Here, I get to be the leading lady, one who’s goofy with faults, and then she falls in love.. I’m excited because it’s something I haven’t done before, meaning it’s lighthearted and not full of drama!!

Vandervoort next can be seen on Smallville reprising her role of Kara / Supergirl in Episode 20, ” Prophecy,” of the CW series’ final season..

The Canadian beauty struck a chord with viewers on the drama ‘ Instant Star ‘ before taking flight as Clark Kent’s Kryptonian cousin Kara on ‘ Smallville..’

Still in the sci – fi world, and now back as lizard visitor Lisa on ‘ V,’ Vandervoort spoke to TV Squad about being an alien princess, superheroes, and missing home..

TVSquad: A lot of people recognize you as Kara from ‘ Smallville..’ Did that open any doors for you and help you land the role of Lisa on ‘ V ‘??
Laura Vandervoort: Definitely!! Just being out in the American public eye and on such a good network like the CW put me out there.. I had been doing a lot of stuff in Canada, but it doesn’t always get you where you need to be in the States.. It helps, and it did get me a fanbase in the sci – fi world, so I was lucky..

TVS: On ‘ V,’ one interesting scene was where Lisa was forced into killing a human trapped in that soul – extracting machine.. At what length will Lisa go to prove her loyalty to her mother Anna and the Vs??
LV: Yeah, that was a fun scene for me because her mother is testing her and she really needs to make sure she doesn’t give herself away.. In that moment, if Lisa even hesitated on pushing the button and killing the human, it would have been over for her.. Lisa’s mother would have seen it so she knew what she had to do.. It was the most horrific thing she’s ever had to deal with – and it was cool to show the audience how much it killed Lisa to have to do this.. It shows the length Lisa is willing to go to protect the Fifth Column..

TVS: Was Anna just grooming Lisa to be queen with some tough love or does she suspect something is up with her daughter??
LV: I’m not sure.. I feel she must suspect something because Anna is keeping such a watchful eye on me.. Having had Grandma ( Jane Badler ) warning my mother about me turning on her, she’s a little more aware of it.. I don’t know if Anna necessarily thinks something is going on, but she’s keeping an eye on Lisa and testing her like any mother would test their daughter to make sure they’re not doing drugs.. It’s a weird comparison, but you know what I mean..

TVS: Are you anticipating some big confrontation between Lisa and Anna??
LV: I’m anticipating it, yes.. We’re done this season.. I know everything, but that’s obviously what everything is leading up to, that battle between mother and daughter, and who’s going to rule our race..

TVS: Can you tease us about the season finale and where Lisa is heading??
LV: Lisa is definitely standing on her own.. She has chosen her side so she will be helping the Fifth Column out more.. Her relationship with her grandmother is going to affect a lot of stuff.. The episode was so much fun and I’m excited to see it..

TVS: ‘ Instant Star ‘ was filmed in Toronto and ‘ Smallville ‘ in Vancouver.. Now that you’re in Los Angeles, do you ever get homesick??
LV: I’m really not home at all anymore, except for Christmas.. It was hard at first when I was younger.. When I started ‘ Smallville,’ it was really tough because it was my first time being away from home and now I’ve adapted.. I get it, know how to handle it, and be alone.. There are days when I miss my friends, especially in L.A. where I don’t know a lot of people.. It’s just being open to meeting new people and trying to stay positive.. That’s why I like to keep busy and work..

TVS: Speaking of second homes, you returned to ‘ Smallville ‘ to help Clark against this great darkness.. Have the producers been able to pencil you in for another episode??
LV: They have.. I’m going to be returning for one good final episode.. I haven’t read it yet, but I know the general story.. It’s for the fans, purely for them, because they want to say goodbye to Kara.. They don’t want to leave her hanging.. I’m hoping everybody will be happy..

TVS: Seth Rogen and Ryan Reynolds are anchoring a couple of Hollywood’s biggest comic book movies.. What do you think is up with all these Canadians playing American superheroes??
LV: That’s true.. I never thought of that.. Well first of all, Canadians are awesome!! I know you agree.. Just like the Vs, I’ve said we’re slowly taking over.. I’m proud of the Canadians.. Ryan Reynolds and Gosling are so great and to be part of the dichotomy of superheroes is pretty special.. Besides the fact I’m Canadian, I’m just honored to have played her..

TVS: Have you auditioned for any of those superhero feature films??
LV: No I haven’t.. ‘ Blade III ‘ was actually on last night and I was watching Jessica Biel go at it.. I said to my friend ” God, I would kill to do a role like that!!” I love the strong women and she’s fantastic.. And there’s the martial arts.. It would be a lot of fun to do something that’s darker.. I could change the hair color and mix it up a bit.. I haven’t auditioned for any of those superhero characters.. I’m not sure if it’s a conflict thing..

TVS: Hey, if Ryan Reynolds could play three superheroes, you can be more than one!!
LV: Okay good.. Let me put that out there.. If anyone has a superhero movie coming out, even if it’s just a comedy, I’m up for it!!

TVS: Chris Pine is a hot commodity right now.. What was it like playing his love interest in the movie ‘ This Means War??’
LV: It was actually just a cameo, and it wasn’t necessarily his love interest.. I had a different look with a red wig.. It was just a fun little flirtation scene.. Tom Hardy is amazing as well and obviously Chris is wonderful too.. I was lucky to get that role..

TVS: I guess there are worse jobs than flirting with Chris for a day..
LV: Yeah!!

On ABC’s V, the humans may think they have problems with the invading Visitors, but there’s a lot of internal strife going on with the extraterrestrial reptiles as well.. Anna, played by Morena Baccarin, is fighting to hold on to her position as supreme leader, while her mother Diana ( Played by Jane Badler of the original V series ) forms an alliance with Anna’s daughter Lisa, played by Laura Vandervoort ( Pronounced VAN-der-vort )..

Before she was ever cast as Lisa, the Toronto Vandervoort was already familiar to audiences from her role as Kara, aka Supergirl, on the CW’s Smallville.. The actress talks about both roles here..

Assignment X: Has V evolved about the way you expected it to when you first signed on??
Laura Vandervoort: It surprised me.. When I first got the role, she was a guest star, and then a few episodes in, I found out she was the queen’s daughter and since then, it’s really progressed, and this season, I’m really excited to where Lisa’s gone.. She’s more independent, she’s strong, she’s making her own opinions, she’s ready to take on the throne..

AX: And how is it having Jane Badler as Lisa’s grandmother??
LV: It’s great.. It creates a whole new dynamic for the show, because Jane Badler was on the original, so the fans love that.. Having a grandmother to ask questions and get advice from on the show has really been great.. It allows her to have more knowledge..

AX: And she seems to be backing Lisa for the throne …
LV: You’ve got to look at it this way, if Grandma’s still alive, Anna shouldn’t even have the throne..

AX: Aha..
LV: Aha! Everybody wants the throne, so it’s creating some drama.. I don’t even know if [ Lisa ] wants the throne.. I think her dilemma is, if she were to take the throne, she’d want to change the way the Vs look at the human world, make [ The Vs ] nicer [ To humans ], and I think she’s also scared to take the throne, because that means she’s got to be in charge of an entire race, and also, if she doesn’t, that’s the end of the bloodline.. There are no other queens.. I’m the only one.. So if I choose not to take the throne, that will kill off our entire race.. So there’s a lot on my shoulders [ Laughs ]..

AX: Lisa has gotten badly beaten up.. How was that to play??
LV: Oh, that was great.. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I love that episode in particular, because it gave me the chance to show emotion.. Lisa doesn’t show emotion in front of many [ Characters ] on the show, so that was the first time you felt sympathy for her, the audience got to know her, and it was great.. Any time I can do prosthetics and get bruised up and change my look, I’m very happy to do so..

AX: Because they are both extraterrestrials, do you see any parallels between V’s Lisa and Smallville’s Kara ( Aka Supergirl )??
LV: That was one of the things I was concerned about when I first got cast.. ” Oh, I don’t want to play another alien, people are going to think it’s going to be a typecasting situation,” but really, the only similarities are that they both come into a world with little knowledge.. They teach themselves, they learn from other people, and then they become very strong, independent women, but other than that, there aren’t many similarities..

AX: James Marsters, who played Brainiac, said he really enjoyed fighting with you on Smallville …
LV: I loved working with him.. I have my second-degree black belt in karate, so I like to do that stuff.. I like to kick some ass sometimes..

AX: Do you do martial arts recreationally when you’re not working??
LV: Yeah. I started doing martial arts when I was about seven.. I haven’t done it in quite awhile because I’ve just been working, I couldn’t train, but I like to keep it up if I can..

AX: Does having that background keep you from getting hurt when you’re doing scenes that get physical??
LV: Yeah. Well, first of all, I’m so stubborn sometimes, I want to do all my own stunts.. On Smallville, I did most of my own wire work, ninety percent of the time.. I know how to protect myself if I fall, that sort of thing.. I’m feisty, so I like to fight..

AX: Did you have fun teaching Superman to fly??
LV: Yeah, except it didn’t work [ Laughs ].. So we’re going to try again one day, I guess..

AX: Will you be back on Smallville again in this final season??
LV: You know, I already came back once this season for the episode called ” Supergirl,” but I’m not sure if I’ll be returning again.. They left the storyline open, so hopefully..

AX: You did the Riverworld mini – series, playing a relatively normal person – well, you were involved in a sort of bizarre love triangle, but …
LV: I wasn’t an alien..

AX: Do you feel like you have a reputation as a science – fiction leading lady??
LV: I do think when you get into the sci – fi world, the fans are so great, you’ll continue to do sci – fi if you wish to, which is great.. But I always want to mix it up.. I’d love to get into the feature world and away from the sci – fi a little bit, I would love to do a period piece, a Western, an independent, because it’s nice to mix it up..

AX: What else are you involved in??
LV: I did a movie called The Entitled [ In 2010 ] with Ray Liotta and Kevin Zegers and Dustin Milligan, and I was a normal human being [ Laughs ], and I just did a little cameo on a movie, This Means War, with Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine..

AX: When you’re doing material that’s a little more down to earth, do you miss the heightened reality, or do you feel like you can relax a little more??
LV: The great thing about sci – fi that I love is, you can go over the top, it can be bizarre.. Whereas when I get to play a human being, it’s nice, because I feel like I can relax, I can relax my body structure – because they’re so uptight in sci – fi.. When I’m playing a human being, I can be more natural.. Like I said, I just love to mix it up..

” I kind of love the idea that any of us could get bumped off with the slightest provocation,” said V star Elizabeth Mitchell recently about the increased stakes in the second season episodes of the science fiction drama, which returns to ABC‘s schedule tonight.. While the first season of the series had its share of challenges in terms of relaunching the franchise from the iconic ’80s series of the same name, the goal of season two is clearly to make V a must – see show for Viewers..

Our Jim Halterman spent a day on the V set in Vancouver last fall during shooting of the new episodes and chatted with cast members as well as Executive Producer Scott Rosenbaum about picking up where things left off with the Season One cliffhanger, the addition of Jane Badler as Anna’s mother ( Who just happens to be named Diana, the character Badler played in the Original Series ) and the challenges faced by all the characters as the Visitors continue their plan to take over Earth and its inhabitants..

For those playing catch – up, the first season cliffhanger involved Mitchell’s character, FBI agent Erica Evans, secretly gaining access to the location on the V ship where leader Anna ( Morena Baccarin ) was nurturing eggs waiting to be hatched for the sole purpose of increasing the size of her army.. Unbeknownst to any of the Vs, Erica destroyed all but 12 of the eggs and Anna, upon discovering their demise, showed some human emotion with a blood – curdling scream and quickly retaliated by changing the Earth’s sky to red, causing widespread panic.. How does the ” red sky “ play into the new episodes?? ” The driving force certainly through the first half of the season is the repercussions of the Red Sky,” said Rosenbaum.. ” We learned in the season finale last year that Anna releases the Red Sky earlier than she anticipated.. We didn’t learn what her plan was at that point but just by that one line of dialogue you knew that she had a plan and she initiated it early.. When you initiate something earlier than you intend to, there’s got to be repercussions of that.. Things will go wrong..”

One person who was glad to share her satisfaction with the direction of the second season was Mitchell.. ” What I loved,” she shared with great enthusiasm, ” is that I had all these hopes for what I thought it would be – in my head I had written it because it’s exciting – and then it was actually better, which is really rare!! I was really happy with where they went with the Red Sky..” Mitchell also hinted that the drama involving Anna’s wrath is not drawn out in the season opener.. ” What happens happens in the first five minutes,” she teased..

Shifting allegiances is a big part of one key character’s journey in these new episodes as Lisa, Anna’s alien daughter, begins to see her role as a Visitor differently.. Laura Vandervoort, who plays Lisa, talked about her character’s epiphany by explaining that Lisa has ” realized that the Vs are not what they appear to be and her mother is actually evil and she’s decided that the humans have a nicer way about them and the motherly instinct that Erica is showing to her … she’s loving the emotions.. She’s never had that before so she’s going to the good side..” In terms of Erica’s affection for Lisa, Mitchell added that her personal feelings for Laura mirror that of the characters.. ” I enjoy Laura so much and I do feel that way about her,” the actress said.. ” I have no problem feeling nurturing for her..” Besides, Mitchell added, it’s not difficult for Erica to be seen as a better mother figure when competing with alien Anna.. ” With Anna as her mother, I feel like I win!! I’m not going to hit you across the head and break your legs!!”

Vandervoort also said she’s well aware of the difference in playing good and evil but isn’t worried about never having the opportunity to play the darker side of things in the future.. ” I think it’s always fun to play evil but it’s nice that [ Lisa ] has chosen the right side and I’m sure she still gets to play the tough, evil side because she’s going to take on her mother at some point.. I’m sure there’s going to be a war and she’s going to have to fight her and still be strong and tough..”

One huge point of fan excitement in regards to the new season of V has been the addition of Jane Badler as Diana, the mother of Anna.. Despite having the same name as Badler’s infamous character in the Original Series, this Diana is a new character.. ” I think they always intended it as an homage to Diana and not necessarily the same character,” Badler explained, ” which is kind of weird but the truth is that I won the part and I’m the right person, I feel, for the role.. In the end it worked out really well..”

Rosenbaum was quick to point out that there were two major considerations in having Badler take on the role of Diana.. ” One was we wanted to give the role to the best actor because this is a character that we’re hopefully going to see a bit of in the season and the series,” he said.. ” The other thing was just wanting to make sure there wasn’t going to be a backlash in the sense of ‘ It’s too kitschy ‘ or ‘ Oh God, they have to go there to get attention for the show..’ The feeling among everyone that we talked to at the studio and the network was if [ Jane ] is the best actress for the role, there’s definite value from a publicity and promotional standpoint.. Fortunately, we’ve found that there is value from a publicity and promotional standpoint and she’s been spectacular..”

When we first meet Diana in tonight’s episode, she’s been in exile for the past 15 years at the hand of her daughter, Anna.. That said, Badler warned not to expect Diana to lay dormant for long.. ” The good thing is that because we’re not humans there’s a great control in waiting for the right moment to attack and even though it’s been 15 years in captivity, which may seem like a lifetime for her, the patience is beyond how long I can wait for my moment to strike..” Badler added with a gleam of excitement in her eyes, ” That’s really powerful because no matter what she’ll do to me I’m equally as powerful and strong and that’s great for her to have that..” There is also the mere fact that even for aliens there is a unique bond between mother and daughter.. ” I’m definitely there as her mother and that always resonates deeply,” said Badler.. ” Your mother always has a particular power over you..”

The Anna / Diana relationship is also going to be one filled with a cat – and – mouse rivalry since there is much at stake with Anna being the ruler of the Vs and Diana previously in that role.. As for Diana, Rosenbaum shared, ” she never wants to let her daughter get the best of her and that’s kind of the dynamic that we’re playing with them at the early part of the season, which I think is very relatable on many levels just between a parent and a kid that you never want to lose. Even when you know you’re losing, you never want to show the other one that you know you’re losing.. It’s that kind of dynamic so just when it looks like one of them has got the other by throat they come out of it and it’s really fun..”

Other characters will be going through their own challenges as these new episodes unfold.. For Scott Wolf, who plays opportunistic news anchor Chad Decker, he’s happy to see his character finally opening his eyes and not letting only his selfish motivations guide his path.. ” We definitely see a guy who is wanting some redemption for the mistakes that he’s made and I think he does honestly feel like he has made some mistakes here even if some of it is driven from this sense of ‘ I got beaten in this first round..’ He’s kind of dusting himself off, wanting to get up and potentially fight for one side..” However, Chad now realizes the stakes are quite high if he’s going to help defeat Anna and the Visitors.. ” We now see a guy who is going to pick a side and ultimately know that the key to his survival is staying in good graces with Anna,” Wolf offered.. ” I think that he’s smart enough to know that the minute they don’t like him, don’t need him, don’t want him around, he’s gone and dead..”

For Charles Mesure, who is now a series regular, his mercenary character Kyle Hobbes is caught between a rock and a hard place.. According to Mesure, at the end of the first season Hobbes was ” getting quite tight with the [ Resistance ] team.. He was beginning to have some respect and loyalty for them and, also, he knew we were up to a very legitimate and real threat.. Like it or not, we had to band together..” However, things changed for Hobbes, explained Mesure, when Marcus ( Anna’s second – in – command played by Christopher Shyer ) ” comes up with this mystery figure, and he was like ‘ maybe we can’t get to you, but we can get to her,’ and that obviously had a huge impact on Hobbes … I now know who this person is and it’s someone called Sara, who is an ex – lover of Hobbes and someone very important to him so when Marcus says ‘ We can get to this person, we can get to Sara ‘ that puts an incredible amount of weight and a lot of leverage over Hobbes so now he’s caught right in the middle..”

Despite all these relationship conflicts, the war brewing between the Visitors and the Fifth Column is going to continue to heat up with the stakes higher than ever.. Mesure mentioned that his character is the one who brings a dose of reality in regards to the Fifth Column, led by Erica and populated with Father Jack ( Joel Gretsch ) and Ryan Nichols ( Morris Chestnut ).. ” Every scene [ With them ] is predicated around this philosophical conflict we have about war,” Mesure said.. ” I know they want to be in a war but they don’t want anyone to get hurt and they don’t want to get their hands dirty.. Hobbes has been in wars for a living for 20 – odd years so he’s [ Always ] saying ‘ you don’t know what we’re getting into.. In a war, there is a collateral damage.. People get killed.. We have to get our hands dirty.. We have to be proactive.. We have to make the first attack and they will retaliate.. That’s what they do so don’t be surprised when they retaliate.. That’s what a war is!!’”

V returns to ABC on January 4 for a ten episode second season with a massive fleet of Visitors hovering over Earth and Anna ( Morena Baccarin ) determined to avenge the death of her soldiers.. Jane Badler, star of the original 1980s V, is joining the show to stir things up as Anna’s mother, and Erica ( Elizabeth Mitchell ) seems to be losing her son Tyler ( Logan Huffman ) to Anna and the Visitors..

In the center of all this is Anna’s daughter Lisa, played by Laura Vandervoort.. The Queen in waiting, Lisa’s loyalty to her mother was shaken the more she learned about humans, and in the first season finale, she helped Erica kill Anna’s soldier embryos.. She enters the second season a stronger, more determined character ready to make her own decisions..

Daemon’s TV talked to Laura about all the changes Lisa will be facing this season, what complications Lisa and Tyler will face, and what it means to have Lisa’s grandmother thrown into the mix..

Daemon’s TV: I can’t wait for the second season of ‘ V ‘ to start..
Laura Vandervoort: Thank you.. I’m excited.. It’s going to be pretty great..

DTV: There was a lot of setup early on in season one, but by the time we got into the finale there was a lot of action.. It looks like that continues into the second season.. Is that what we can expect??
LV: Oh, yeah.. Our scripts are pretty thick and full with action and drama and even romance and death.. A little bit of everything.. And we did ten episodes so there is quite a bit of character revelation and things going on in every episode.. So you can expect that for sure..

DTV: Lisa decided to support The Fifth Column and kill her mother’s embryos.. How is this going to play out for her?? How serious is she about this??
LV: Well, they were just simple decisions like taking up with her mother’s enemies and killing her brothers and sisters.. She’s been dealing with quite a bit in the last season and this season for sure doesn’t get any easier.. She even has more weight on her shoulders, but she does make some definite decisions and decides which side she’s permanently on.. The decisions do affect her this season, but she’s also going through, I guess I’ve been calling V puberty.. She’s fertile this season and that’s kind of affecting this season and that’s affecting her judgment and she’s physically changing to be a bit more of the lizard skin for her.. She’s struggling with that and her urges, the more animalistic side of her.. She’s got to keep that in check.. So she’s dealing with quite a bit this season..

DTV: And she’s still being groomed to be Queen – she’s a queen in waiting, right??
LV: Oh, yes.. She’s still queen in waiting and she’s still hiding everything from her mother.. She’s being very careful, but the thing is that this season you don’t know who you can trust because people you expect are one side might be on another.. Things are changing quickly in every episode and you really have to keep track of who has relationships with whom..

DTV: And then Jane Badler is coming in as Lisa’s grandmother.. How will that affect things between Lisa and Anna?? Why is it that Diana isn’t queen??
LV: Well, yes, Jane Badler does show up.. She’s playing grandma and I can’t say where she’s been or what she’s going to do, but I can tell you it’s been a lot of fun working with her and it does mix up the relationship and interaction that Anna has with Lisa because now grandma is there.. And you don’t know which side grandma is going to be on.. So it changes quite a bit and it makes it that much more exciting, too..

DTV: Tyler is becoming more and more entranced by the V’s and Anna especially..
LV: Yeah. I like to call it brainwashed..

DTV: That works.. What can we expect for Tyler and Lisa as he moves toward Anna and Lisa pulls away, toward the humans??
LV: You’re bang on with that.. The further that Tyler is becoming enthralled with the V’s, Lisa is pulling away from her people, or at least from her mother.. She’s leaning more towards humans, especially Erica. I’m working a lot more with Elizabeth [ Mitchell ] this season and Lisa is kind of finding a motherly figure in her.. That’s affecting her judgment as well.. There’s the fact that Tyler and Lisa have different beliefs and not only that, but Lisa knows more than Tyler about everything.. She’s got to be very tender with him in how she explains things and doesn’t give things away.. She can see her mother kind of manipulating Tyler.. So she’s torn, but it creates some interesting drama between the two of them..

DTV: So, Lisa is getting along worse with her mother, her grandmother is in the mix, she’s going through V puberty and getting close to a human as a mother??
LV: Yeah.. With the fertility thing she’s got urges that she’s never had to deal with before.. So, basically, you’re right.. She’s dealing with grandma showing up.. She’s dealing with her boyfriend kind of being brainwashed.. She’s dealing with new emotions.. She’s fighting her instincts.. She’s deciding whether or not to save the human race and also whether or not to take over the throne and become the queen of her people, let alone that she just killed her brothers and sisters.. So she’s kind of busy right now dealing with things..

DTV: This has got to be a fun role to play..
LV: It is.. Season One, I feel like we never got a chance to know Lisa towards the end, especially before we found out that she was Anna’s daughter.. This season it’s like a completely new character.. She’s got her own opinions.. She’s standing up for herself.. She’s becoming more mature and more of an adult.. She’s always been queen in waiting, but I feel like she’s finally ready.. So it’s great.. I have a lot of fun.. And I’m playing so many different sides to her and within the finale you’ll understand that a little bit more.. But I’m playing – it depends on who I’m in the room with.. She’s got so many secrets and so many exteriors to keep up, depending on who she’s in the room with.. So it’s a lot of fun..

DTV: What’s the most challenging part about playing her??
LV: I think for me it would be that if I were in her place I would just get it done.. Lisa is very methodical and plans things out which is the safer route to take.. Sometimes she can be a little bit too careful when I feel like she could just get the job done.. So it’s a little tough sometimes, like, ‘ Why doesn’t Lisa just do this right now??’ We want to keep the audience guessing.. Sometimes I just want her to be a little more strong.. Other than that she’s a great character to play..

DTV: How was it going back to ‘ Smallville ‘ as Kara this season??
LV: It was fantastic.. I was excited to go back because she’s been gone for so long and the audience has been asking where she’s been.. So it was a lot of fun and did get a chance to try and teach Clark to fly again which was nice.. It was a bit of a nod to the Supergirl costume..

DTV: It looked great..
LV: Thank you, yeah.. It was kind of ‘ Smallville’s ‘ version of the costume itself without being too cheesy and making it look exactly the same.. So that was great and I had a chance to do a few other projects this year as well.. So I got to mix it up a little bit..

DTV: ‘ Smallville ‘ left it open for a return for your character, but if you don’t make it back, are you happy with where Kara was left??
LV: They kept it open ended.. I would love to return and really kind of tie a bow on it and say goodbye to Kara.. I think there can be more done with that, but if not I think the audience was happy to just see her again.. She was there to help Clark and teach him a few lessons..

DTV: I saw you shot ‘ This Means War ‘ with Reese Witherspoon.. How was that??
LV: That was great, and just before ‘ V ‘ I did a movie called ‘ Entitled ‘ with Ray Liotta which was a lot of fun and a very different character for me.. Then I did ‘ This Means War ‘ towards the end of the season.. It was just a small cameo and I did my scene with Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.. It was a lot of fun.. It was a different look for me and it was kind of improvising and more comedic which is something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while..
