V-the-new-series-logo1season 2

V‘s Executive Producer, Scott Rosenbaum, has revealed that there will be ” shifting loyalties “ in V: The New Series Season Two..

Recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Rosenbaum suggested that the characters will face much more stress in future episodes.. Click on the image below to watch the ” First Part “ interview video..

The ” First Part “ of the interview, EW chats with Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ), Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ), Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ), Executive Producer Scott Rosenbaum and Morris Chestnut ( Ryan Nichols ).. The interview starts off with EW’s Michael Ausiello congratulating Elizabeth Mitchell on her Emmy nomination for LOST as they talk about her role and acceptance speech..

Moving onto V, the Cast and Scott Rosenbaum talk about getting over the growing pains of the first season and settling into the groove of the end of season, showing the potential of Season Two.. Morris Chestnut explains that it brought them closer as a cast and helped them grow into their roles which should make Season Two an exciting year.. As Joel Gretsch gives credit to Rosenbaum for pulling Season One together after joining behind – the – scenes half way through the season..

Rosenbaum explains how he came took over half way through Season One: ” I sorta came in middle and my goal was to try plant the seeds to create something that can last for a, hopefully, a really long time.. And I think if you watch the Season Finale, there’s some very strong choices for all the different characters..”

He continued: ” Coming off from that, just being in the Writers Room, we’ve had so many great stories that we’ve come with that we’re so excited to tell..”

” I’d say the last three episodes [ Of Season One ] are probably a good template for what the show will fell like moving forward..”

” What I want to do – and what [ The cast ] are so great at doing – is find the nerve endings in the characters and just squeeze them,” he said.. ” I think what’s going to happen is, they’re in a war.. And war changes people..”

He continued: ” When you talk about loyalty, I think it’s how are these characters going to react when they’re in a war and it’s life and death and they have to choose between themselves or possibly the greater good?? Which decision are they going to make??”

When asked about Season Two’s theme changing to ” loyalties,” early in Season Two, Rosenbaum explains: ” There will be, I think, a lot of loyalties shifting and a lot of maneuvering and then the question is when they fall, what side is everyone going to be on??”

Asked how importantly it is to air the show consecutive, Rosenbaum reveals: ” The plan is to run consecutive.. Actually, the first 6 [ Episodes ], I think, will air in November [ 2010 ] and then it’s Christmas so, I think, we’ll be off for two weeks, and then we’ll run the rest of the episodes..”

Rosenbaum promised that there will be a ” huge cliffhanger “ in the middle of the season and suggested that some of the dynamics of the show will change..

” The fun of this season is finally, I’m going to have [ The ] group led by Erica start to get a little bit ahead of [ Anna's group ] for the first time and start to figure out what their plans are,” he said.. ” So they’ll know what the red sky was, but the world won’t.. But it is the first shot of the war.. You will find out what it is at the end of the first episode but it’s such a big twist that I don’t want to give it away right now..”

The ” Second Part “ of the interview, EW chats with Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ) Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ), Scott Wolf ( Chad Decker ), Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) and Executive Producer Steve Pearlman.. Click on the image below to watch the ” Second Part “ interview video..

v-comic-con

The V Panel was held at 2:30pm on Saturday 24th July 2010 at the San Diego Comic – Con, which was presented in Ballroom 20..  In attendance was a star – studded cast which included Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ), Morris Chestnut ( Ryan Nichols ), Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ), Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ), Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ), Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ), Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) and Scott Wolf ( Chad Decker ), along with Executive Producers Scott Rosenbaum and Steve Pearlman..

When media reporters started lining up for the TV Panels at Comic – Con, in the wee early hours the morning, many asked nearby fans which cast they were waiting for.. A big portion of the crowd said they were already lining up for V.. Not that we ever doubted the dedication of Veeks alike.. Comic – Con goers were rewarded with lots of teases and tidbits on the upcoming season, and you get them right here without having to line up or anything..

So how is V: The New Series Season Two going to top Season One? Well during today’s panel at Comic – Con, Executive Producer Scott ( Skeeter ) Rosenbaum, promised that Season Two will be bigger and better in every way.. Rosenbaum acknowledged that ” not as many cards were turned over “ last season..

It’s no secret that V went through some serious behind – the – scene struggles its freshman year but with Rosenbaum solidly seated in the showrunner’s seat now, things are getting interesting.. One complaint some fans of the series had about the first season of the show was it felt too small in scope, given the situation.. Rosenbaum promised that Season Two of V would ” absolutely “ be bigger and that the network actually encouraged them to give the show more of an international feel, which everyone agreed was the right choice.. In fact, they’d recently sent crews to various parts of Europe and Asia to shoot footage that could be used as background for scenes they might like to spend in various countries down the line..

Lots of revelations are planned for season two, as well as tons of character backstory.. ” We’re going to see the true nature of what the visitors are about, and what they’re like underneath, so it’s going to be exciting,” says executive producer Scott Rosenbaum.. ” It will be chock full of great reveals,” Rosenbaum promises..

He also teased that Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) will look for the nurturing she’s not receiving from mother Anna ( Morena Baccarin ) by developing a closer relationship with Erica ( Elizabeth Mitchell ), while Tyler ( Logan Huffman ) will return the favor by saddling up with Anna..

Most importantly, fans will finally get to meet Anna’s mother, who will make her entrance at the end of the first episode.. Rosenbaum hinted that this character was perhaps the most important among several new characters we’ll be meeting this year.. Later, a question was asked about whether we’d go to the Visitors’ home planet, and Rosenbaum said we’d certainly learn more about them – which is when he began a sentence with, ” When we meet Diana …”

This got a big reaction, and Rosenbaum admitted he’d just accidentally given away that yes, Anna’s mother will share the name with an iconic character from the original V.. Even before we knew this fact, Rosenbaum was asked during the panel if perhaps Jane Badler, who played Diana in V: The Original Mini – Series, could play Anna’s mother.. Rosenbaum wouldn’t commit to this, though he did say ” We’re going to cast the best actor and she is certainly someone we’re thinking about,” said Rosenbaum.. ” I don’t know if she’ll be Anna’s mother, but I’d like to have her be in the show this season..” Word is that Producers are talking to Jane Badler, the original alien baddie in the 1983 version of V..

So is the name a coincidence? ” When I was pitching the concept to the network and the studio on who this character was, it was easiest to frame it in terms of if it’s her mother, is it possible that [ It's the one ] from the ’80s series?” Rosenbaum said after the panel..

Season Two will uncover a lot more mysteries about the Visitors.. What the V‘s really look like.. How long they’ve been here.. And the V‘s true reasons for coming to Earth.. More about the Visitors under Anna’s leadership.. How their extended stay has changed world events and why they’re planning to stick around..

So what else was revealed for Season Two, well in no particular order:

In regards to the ” Red Sky “ in the Season One finale, ” You will find out what the red sky means at the end of the season premiere,” Scott promises..

Viewers will be treated to a piece of the V‘s home world.. ” When we meet Diana, she’ll be in her natural habitat,” reveals Rosenbaum.. It’s through ” Diana,” ( Anna’s mother ) viewers will see where the Visitors came from.. We’re going to meet Diana towards the end of the first episode of Season Two..

Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ) was asked if there will be more ” Action Jack “ next season.. At this point, Rosenbaum steps in and says that, yes, viewers will see more of a ” Soldier Priest “ than the ” Priest Soldier “ we saw in Season One.. We can only assume Jack will be giving a little less conversation and a little more action come next season.. Though Jack started out as a man of peace, his main challenge this year will be maintaining that morality.. The show is interested in pursuing what happens when mankind’s moral compasses ( Such as priests ) start losing their morality.. ” Jack is on the far end of the spectrum as a man of peace and God, so his challenge is to be able to maintain that..” Rosenbaum likened his underground man of God to the ” moral spine “ of humanity that the Visitors are so intent on breaking.. Father Jack will continue to question his faith and his belief that peace cannot be accomplished through armed Resistance..

Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ) was asked about the strong characters she has played before; what makes Erica unique? She laughs, because she usually thinks of Erica the same as the other women.. She does say that Erica’s humanity is a major focus for her..

Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) is asked about her V offsprings being destroyed, and her subsequent scream, the first emotion she has shown.. She responds that Anna will face an interesting conflict all season after the death of her eggs.. ” It will take her closer to humanity than she wants to be,” Morena says.. Anna has a very ” slow and devious “ plan for mankind; the red sky is the first strike, and the meaning of that ominous coloring will be revealed in the first episode of the season premiere..

Erica and Anna will find that they have one thing in common: They are both losing their children.. Just as Tyler is seduced by the advanced technology of the Visitors, Lisa will continue to be handicapped by her emotions and empathy for the humans.. This will push each further away from their own mothers and into the waiting arms of a surrogate mother figure.. Tyler will align with Anna and Lisa will align with Erica – at least for a time.. Children are fickle and their attraction and desire to find something relatable and to fill the void in their hearts will draw them into worlds diametrically opposite from anything they have ever known..

Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) will look towards Erica as a nurturing mother figure, while Tyler will be drawn closer to Anna; we’ll find out exactly why Anna is so obsessed with Tyler, and whether either woman will use the others child as leverage in the war..

” Lizard love is the best love!” says the beautiful Morena Baccarin rocking a blonde head of hair.. We will be finding out why she seems to be so interested in Tyler..

Was Scott Wolf’s ( Chad Decker ) character’s aneurysm real? It’s not entirely clear.. Is Chad Decker still interested in furthering his career, or is he looking for ” lizard love?” Wolf says yes, ” lizard canoodling “ with Anna would be worth it even if she bit his head off.. He suggests that Anna’s connection to humanity has much more to do with her attraction to Chad.. He also mentions that Chad will choose an allegiance next season and that people may be surprised to discover what side Chad ends up fighting on..

We’ll also get to meet Chad’s father mid season, which will shed some light on why Chad has made some of the decisions in his life that he has..

What was the purpose of killing Ryan’s ( Morris Chestnut ) wife, Val ( Lourdes Benedicto )? Rosenbaum says that it was necessary for Anna to make Ryan see the bad sides of humanity so he’ll again be susceptible to Anna’s bliss.. So Val really is dead.. She will not be returning for Season Two..

Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ) is asked if whether a Tyler will mend the rift with his father.. He hopes so, because shooting with Nicholas Lea ( Joe Evans ) was a lot of fun.. Tyler’s father, Joe Evans ( Nicholas Lea ), will be back in Season Two.. Tyler will also find out who his birth father is..

Rosenbaum reveals that as the Fifth Column expands, they are going to meet a ” pretty radical “ group of other Fifth Columns, which will cause conflict, as they have a very different means of dealing with the war..

Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ) announced at he is coming back as a series regular for Season Two and will take a more prominent role on the show.. Will Hobbes be forced to choose sides in the impending war? It appears that he’ll have to do just that.. Just exactly where on the spectrum of good and evil he falls is not yet determined.. ” He’s seen the V‘s as a real threat and the humans will have to do something about.. In Season Two, we’ll see which way he goes,” Scott Rosenbaum spills..

In a maneuver that shocked everyone last season he sold out the Resistance for a hefty sum of money.. But like Judas, he may ultimately regret taking the 30 pieces of silver in exchange for the lives of his new – found friends..

Hobbs may not yet realize it, but Erica, Jack, and Ryan have become a quasi – family for him.. Hobbs surprisingly has trusted them enough to invite them into his life and once they are excluded he may be surprised to realize how much he needed them.. They are not only the voice of reason, but the voice of humanity – and if Hobbs wants to retain his humanity, he will need to quickly decide which side he is on.. He will also begin to recognize that money is no longer the currency that it was before the arrival of the Visitors.. Such intangibles as loyalty, love and friendship may become the currency of the day in which he will suddenly find himself craving and seeking out.. Man cannot live by money alone.. Man must have human connections or longevity will be pointless..

Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ) is asked whether Lisa is up to the challenge to be the possibile savior of humanity.. Yes, but she can’t say whether she will actually be that savior..

What is the dynamic between Erica and Anna next season? Rosenbaum said that the show is about two mothers battling for their children, and how far they are willing to go to protect their own.. There will be a burgeoning relationship between Erica and Lisa, while Tyler will be pushed towards Anna.. So, how do these women use, or not use, their new wards? Will the V‘s world be seen? Rosenbaum says that yes, when Diana, Anna’s mother, is seen, it will be in their home world.. ( This was actually an error by Rosenbaum who spoiled the name of Anna’s mom )..

What was the most shocking things for the cast? For Vandervoort, it was finding out Lisa was Anna’s daughter.. For Baccarin, it was killing Val.. Mitchell revealed that the audience will find out, definitively, why Anna is so interested in Tyler.. Rosenbaum expanded on this, saying that they are not trying to be cute about the show’s mythology.. In other words, Season Two will answer questions about the V‘s past, and their long – planned invasion of Earth, which are apparently ” very creepy..”

Will the V / human hybrid baby be central? Ryan’s child ” was not meant to be;” but Anna will use child for her ” devious advantage “ says Rosenbaum.. The hybrid is a way to manipulate Ryan.. ” The hybrid baby is another weapon, as Anna would look at it, in her arsenal..” Rosenbaum explained that her demise was a necessary power play for Anna, in her attempt to gain leverage over Ryan..  The conflicted father – to – be, seduced by the joys of human emotion needed to experience pain and suffering, another common aspect of humanity, in order to get him to return to V – dom..”

So is he Ryan now an enemy of the Fifth Column?  Said Morris Chestnut, ” I don’t know, I think Ryan responds to the bliss depending on what kind of dress Anna is wearing..”

We’re going to find out how long the Vs have been here and whether and how they’ve changed world history.. We will find out more about how long the Vs have been putting sleeper agents on Earth.. Rosenbaum pondered, ” Have they been here in the 40s, the 50s, the 60s? Has their presence changed world events in ways we can’t imagine?” We will also find out exactly what the Visitors are, physically – whether we can truly define them as lizards or perhaps a combination of species..

Scott Rosenbaum wouldn’t say whether John May would return in Season Two..

V returns in November 2010 on ABC..

And finally, will the audience see the global impact of the V invasion? Absolutely.. While it is great to focus on the immediate concerns of those in New York, the global effect of the invasion is of major importance and will have consequences for all the characters.. We will see more of the Fifth Column around the world.. ” We’re going to be moving around more internationally,” says Rosenbaum.. The show will enjoy a global scope in season two, with footage shot in Europe and Asia.. So prepare to get global..

What do you think of V ‘s new direction? Are you on board?

TVOvermind: When will we see the inevitable Father Jack and Erica hook – up?
Joel Gretsch:
You’d be surprised how many times I get that question.. Gosh, the story kind of lends to a very intimate relationship, being that who we can trust is the background of everything.. The only one Jack can trust is Erica.. Being that we start from the beginning on a roof top at the end of when the V’s first showed up, and how it was revealed what their intentions were, it was very intimate.. But, you know, Father Jack is a Priest so it will be very important for him to have faith, and his relationship with God is the forefront of who he is.. With that said, he is also working side – by – side with Elizabeth Mitchell and if you’ve seen her, it’s kind of hard not to … ( Laughs )..

TVO: How do you feel Father Jack’s faith is holding up in light of everything he has seen?
JG: I think he’s put in a place where he is a fish out of water, he’s compromised, he feels ill – equipped.. Being in a resistance was never his training, even though he was in the war he was there from a spiritual standpoint.. His faith definitely gets challenged in many ways, and in many ways it becomes more solidified.. We’re talking about stories lines of basically life and death and to what Anna’s intentions are and what she is trying to accomplish, and being that we are the resistance and that we are going to have to clash with that, and people are going to get hurt.. It’s a difficult place for Father Jack to be.. But yet, he can’t be sitting idle.. He’s got to do stuff..

TVO: So we’ll be seeing more action from Father Jack as things start to challenge his faith?
JG: Yeah, that’s very well said.. Jack’s backstory becomes more prevalent.. There is a past to Father Jack.. It’s an interesting thing, as all of us actors get parts you always wonder ” where did he come from?”, before page one of the first show.. What’s his backstory, why did he become a priest, what was his relationship to his family? There’s certain subtleties that get revealed about Father Jack that are quite interesting..

TVO: Will Jack continue to be affected by the R6? Will any new effects materialize?
JG: Jack is aware that something is put into him, and being that it is R6 he doesn’t know how that is going to affect him.. The fear is that it could be the worst, ‘ am I dying?’, ‘ Are they trying to change me?’ Being that he can’t trust Anna and the V’s, what has been done to him? Throughout the season you’ll also figure out more about that, and to what degree that is affecting Jack?

TVO: Can you talk about the emotional impact of the recent major death?
JG: The great combination about that, Alex, is that it is emotional from a standpoint that it is really well written, I think Scott Rosenbaum did a beautiful job, and the writers of the show, to really use the relationships that we’ve all established.. We’re a small group of resistance, as of right now, and each one of us know what we’re up against.. So the writing is great there, but also the actors – we’re all really a tight-knit group of actors and we all care very deeply about the show, and what we are trying to convey.. I think that combination is ripe for really beautiful and emotional things..

TVO: How has changing show – runners affected the show?
JG: I think more than the show runner, it was the time we were down for a few months.. We’re all trying to accomplish the same thing, we’re all trying to put a great show out there, to stay working, and to make the fans happy.. The new show – runner has been great, we’re all trying to accomplish the same thing and I think Scott Rosenbaum has done a beautiful job of writing a good show for us.. It’s all been positive..

TVO: You’ve done a lot of Sci – Fi with Taken, The 4400, and now V.. Do you have an affinity towards the genre?
JG: It kind of worked out that way but yeah I do, it’s hard not to.. But all of those shows you mentioned are great character driven shows, Sci – Fi is more the backdrop.. You look at Anna, and you look at Morena playing the role, and Elizabeth, and Scott Wolf, all of these really great character roles.. Everybody has a great want, need, and desire, and I think that with Sci – Fi is great storytelling and I think our show has all of that, and so did Taken and The 4400..

TVO: What has been your favorite part of being on V?
JG: To be honest with you, it’s working with the other actors.. I get to go to work with Morris Chestnut, Elizabeth, and Scott Wolf.. It’s a treat.. We’ve all been around for a while, and we all know that when you’re working as an actor it’s a blessing, and then when you’re doing a good show and working with good people it’s even better..

The Flickcast: Starting off, what can you tell me about the things coming up on V?
Joel Gretsch:
Wow, what a question.. [ Laughs].. Lots of things.. It’s really ramping up.. Scott Rosenbaum, the showrunner, is writing a lot of fast, neck – breaking reveals, and you’re going to learn a lot of things of things about where each character comes from, why they are who they are.. Why is Father Jack a priest? Stuff like that..

Anna’s moving.. She’s got a reason why she’s here, and all that is going to get revealed.. Also backstories.. Erica’s relationship with Tyler is going to be revealed some more, as well as her relationship with her husband.. A lot of emotional things will be happening, people will get hurt, my faith will be compromised even more than it already has, and it also gets more solidified.. There is really a lot of stuff going on..

TF: We recently spoke with your co – star Laura Vandervoort, who wasn’t really aware of the Original Series before coming onto the show.. Were you in the same boat?
JG:
I was aware of it.. I watched a little.. I remember seeing the alien baby getting born, which freaked me out so I stopped watching.. I was definitely aware of it, and some friends of mine were fanatic fans about it at the time.. I really appreciate it now, though..

It was a really amazing show.. Kenneth Johnson put together an amazing story, and the fact that there are still fans out there today that love what he did is a real tribute to his work..

TF: Many fans of V remember you from other roles in shows like Taken and The 4400, is Sci – Fi something that you seek out, or does it just kind of happen?
JG:
You know, it just kind of happens.. I got Taken because I did The Legend of Bagger Vance, a golf movie.. When I did the role in Minority Report, Spielberg said to me: ” I saw you in the dailies of Bagger Vance, and I really want you to do this part in a mini – series..” So that’s kind of how that happened, and how I got into the sci – fi..

After that, I got sent a script for The 4400, which I thought was a fantastic, character – diven sci – fi show, and that’s how I met Scott Peters, who ended up doing V.. So it all kind of just fell into my lap, to a degree.. But I like it!

Sci – Fi makes people think bigger, and ask the question ” What if?”, which is great..

TF: Science Fiction has been known to have some pretty crazy fans, have you gotten the full experience with them yet?
JG:
Yeah.. I think sci – fi fans are pretty smart.. They love detail, and there’s that kid in all of us that just loves to play, so why not? What’s brilliant about it is that life can get very superficial.. God knows, I’m a part of that, worrying about having to go out and get an iPad, but if you look up in space or you listen to an astronomer talk, it’s extraordinary to think of how small we are.. Pretty narcissistic to think that we’re the only ones in the universe

TF: Being on a big twisty – turny show like V, are there big moments in each script where you are completely surprised by the events that unfold?
JG:
Yeah, I did.. Actually, in the episode that’s set to air this week brings up that point.. I remember reading it, and it was quite emotional.. After the first read, I sent an email to Scott Rosenbaum telling him how emotional and powerful the episode was..

I think that the show does have those moments.. There are so many reveals that are happening this year that had me just say ” wow,” and taken back several times.. I think the fans will also experience that when they watch the show..

TF: Since the sci-fi world was introduced to you in Spielberg’s Taken, the question got raised if you would ever play Captain America.. I know we’ve mentioned it many times around the office, and we think you would’ve been our number 1 pick..
JG:
[ Laughs ] No Kidding! Aww, that’s great.. I’m absolutely flattered.. It’s nice to even be thought of as that..

TF: Absolutely.. Has the discussion ever been brought up in the past? Is that something you’ve ever been interested in?
JG:
Of course! Are you kidding me? Of course! I think I heard that Chris Evans is playing the character now.. Terrific actor, and he’ll be wonderful in it.. I think he’s a little younger than me, too [ Laughs ]..

I would’ve loved to do it.. But no, nobody has ever approached me to do it.. I’m still flattered, though!

IGN: What can you say about this week’s new episode, ” John May “?
Joel Gretsch:
First off, it’s very emotional.. It’s a beautiful episode.. I remember reading it the first time and sending an email to Scott Rosenbaum and the rest of the writers saying congratulations.. It’s so moving and so well done.. A lot gets revealed.. You’re going to find out a lot of stuff about Ryan.. You’re going to hear a lot about John May and how he’s affected the life of Ryan.. Michael Trucco is coming in to play John May, and that’s going to be a wonderful reveal in the storyline.. And it’s very emotional; there’s something that happens that I think is going to be very touching to fans..

IGN: You mentioned Scott Rosenbaum – he came on a few episodes in, which sometimes can be difficult.. What did you think when you started to see the direction he was taking the show?
JG:
I think it’s fantastic.. I think there’s never a dull moment.. This show is moving; a lot of things are happening.. There’s a lot of great character reveals and developments that I think the fans are going to love.. And it makes sense.. Anna’s here for a specific reason, and we have to do something about it as a resistance, and we don’t have time – the clock is ticking – and that, I think, Scott Rosenbaum’s done a beautiful job with: it’s moving.. This show has got stuff that I think fans are going to love..

IGN: Your character is a priest, but he’s become part of this resistance, which could get more and more into a physical aspect.. How is he reconciling the man of faith he is with what he might need to do in order to help humanity?
JG: It’s very compelling from Father Jack’s point of view.. He can’t be passive.. He’s pushed to a place where he’s not comfortable.. And he’s ill – equipped, yet he finds his way through it.. One of the greatest things Scott Peters said to me when I first got the role was, ” Don’t ever forget that Father Jack is a man..” Sometimes when you make these characters out, you think, ” Oh, a priest can only be this way..” Well, no, the priest can be many things.. Father Jack is very well intentioned.. He became a priest for all the right reasons.. I think he’s a good man trying to do good things, but yet he has a past, and he has to do stuff.. He has to put himself in a position where some people could get hurt, and considering what the stakes are with Anna and what they’re trying to accomplish, thank goodness he’s got other people around him – he’s got Erica, he’s got Ryan and now Hobbes and Georgie, so he’s got some help around him..

IGN: We were given an explanation on R6, to some extent – how it’s basically used as a tracker.. But I can’t help but think about your character saying that he feels different after he went through that medical procedure and wondering if there’s more to it..
JG: Yeah.. Well, Jack doesn’t know it.. He doesn’t know it’s a tracking device.. For all he knows, people that you don’t trust, and people that are here for the reasons that are not what they say they are, have put something in him.. So he obviously can go to the point where it’s probably not a good thing that they put it in him.. That get more established as the series goes on this season – you’re going to hear more about that – but it is definitely a compromise that he’s going to have to keep trying to figure out what it is, and it’s a very unsettling thing for him..

IGN: It was fun to see you try to recruit Chad Decker last week, a character you hadn’t really interacted with..
JG: You’re gonna see a lot more of Father Jack and Chad.. The interest is there.. Chad, a reporter looking for information, knows he’s getting something from Father Jack, and Father Jack knows something.. And, also, I know the degree he can reach out to a lot of people in the profession that he’s in and his relationship with Anna.. So yeah, I think we end up using each other to a certain degree throughout the series, and it’s a delight to work with Scott Wolf.. He’s such a wonderful guy to be able to do scenes with.. We’re lucky that we get to do this, and you’re going to see a lot more of us..

IGN: It’s a large ensemble and it’s set up where the characters are often in different places.. Is it fun for you to get a script like last week’s and realize, ” Oh, Scott and I are finally getting a scene together “?
JG: Yeah, absolutely.. It is nice.. We’re a tight – knit group up there, even though we are in different [ Storylines ].. Last week we all went over to Elizabeth [ Mitchell ]‘s place and watched the episode together.. We’re all trying to accomplish a great show and do the best we can up there, so it is nice that we get to put that into our work and do scenes with characters that you normally didn’t get to do scenes with..

IGN: I look online and I see more than a couple people who seem to be rooting for a Jack / Erica coupling despite what seems to be some pretty big obstacles.. What do you say when you hear the people say, ” Those two should totally get together “?
JG: I think it’s great.. I think the storytelling kind of lends to that.. Here we are on the rooftop at the end of the pilot – this extraordinary thing happens, and the only one you can trust is each other, and that’s unlikely.. She doesn’t know I’m a priest; I don’t know she’s an FBI agent, but we’re sitting together after this extraordinary event, and that’s very intimate.. And then later on they reveal that I’m a priest, and she’s an FBI agent, and here’s that huge obstacle.. But trust is a big thing.. Trust is very intimate.. And who knows where it goes? I think it’s gonna be fascinating for the fans of that relationship throughout this season.. It’s complex.. I think it’s going to be a wonderful ride to see where it goes..

IGN: So is it safe to say that Father Jack will be involved in more action scenes coming up?
JG: Yes, definitely.. I think being that he’s a big part of the resistance, he has to.. He can’t be passive, so he has to do stuff, and there’s gonna be stuff that’s coming up that’s going to surprise a lot of people I think..

IGN: As a big fan of The 4400, it’s been fun for me to see people like Samantha Ferris pop up..
JG: Oh, it’s wonderful.. Now if we can just get Jacqueline McKenzie up there.. I would love to see Jackie on the show.. She’s such a terrific actress and a great spirit to be around.. We had a great group on The 4400, and I think we all miss each other very much.. You do a TV show for four years and you kind of become family to a certain degree.. So it is nice, and it was great to see Sam up there.. We had a big hug and laughed and caught up..

IGN: And I appreciated the little shout out in the pilot of V with the 4400 address.. When you saw the script, did you pause for a second on that?
JG: Yeah! [ 4400 / V Executive Producer ] Scott Peters did a great job with that.. Even St. Josephine’s church is really kind of named off of his assistant, Josie, who was a terrific girl up there [ On 4400 ].. So, yeah, it’s a lot of wonderful little things..
