In the war against the Visitors, there is perhaps no greater asset than Kyle Hobbes.. A highly trained mercenary who typically works for the highest bidder, Hobbes has made an exception to his rules in siding with the Fifth Column, a secret group of resistance fighters working to prevent the invading alien forces from annihilating mankind.. But Hobbes is a man who’s already flexible loyalties are put to the test when the Visitors threaten an unidentified woman from his past: sacrifice her life, or join the cause..
It’s not an easy predicament, certainly not for Hobbes himself, but also for Charles Measure, the New Zealand actor who plays the cool – tempered gunman on ABC’s V.. Measure joined the sci – fi series midway through Season One, but when the second season premieres tonight ( January 4th ), he’ll be enjoying his first episode as a series regular..
The actor spoke with Spinoff Online and other journalists on the Vancouver set of V during production on tonight’s season premiere, discussing his character’s evolution and his hopes for Season Two..
Spinoff Online: Congratulations on the series regular upgrade!! At what point did you realize you were going to be a regular for Season Two??
Charles Measure: Very early on into Season One, you had to suspect it.. The Resistance needed someone who could help them fight a war.. I’d heard various things from day one and throughout Season One, but I didn’t hear confirmation until the last few weeks of shooting Season One..
SO: Other than contractually, does it make a difference in your life having ” regular ” in your title as opposed to [ Being ] a supporting cast member??
CM: Yeah.. When you’re playing supporting characters, you come in and bring new information or you’re there to get in the way of something.. Whereas this time around, I get my own storyline, which is fantastic..
SO: So what will that storyline be??
CM: At the end of Season One, we saw Hobbes doing some kind of clandestine deal with Marcus.. He was saying, ” Come and work for the V’s, or else..” Hobbes goes, ” Well, I’m going to head for the hills and you’ll never find me..” And he goes, ” Well maybe we can’t get to you, but we can get to this person..” He pulls out this photo, which has some impact on Hobbes.. So that’s the story we’re going to pursue for the moment..
SO: Will we meet that person??
CM: Hmm … [ Long pause ] Well, anyway.. [ Laughs ] I’ll tell you what I know, which is not a great deal – we get stories one by one, and in this first episode, we’re beginning to tell that story..
SO: Who this season would you like to spend more time with??
CM: Who this season would I like to spend more time with?? I like the stuff with Elizabeth Mitchell.. That’s always a lot of fun.. She’s pretty cool!! She’s cool and she’s fun to hang out with – she’s a very funny lady – and in front of the cameras, she makes some choices that other people wouldn’t make.. She’s a very interesting actor to work with.. I wouldn’t mind spending some time with [ Morena Baccarin ] or [ Laura Vandervoort ] either, but I don’t see that happening anywhere in the near future..
SO: Hobbes started off as a very reluctant member of this Resistance group.. He’s a guy who typically works on his own terms and this isn’t exactly the type of assignment he usually takes, since it’s essentially pro bono.. How do you feel the character has evolved from where we first saw him to where he’s at right now??
CM: There are a couple of things that have happened.. In the beginning, he didn’t know or care about these people.. He was very suspicious of [ The Visitors ] being kind of a credible threat.. Now, he knows they’re a very credible threat, so from a purely survival standpoint, Hobbes is kind of thinking: ” Well, where’s the percentage in siding with the team who could potentially wipe out all of humanity?” Now he knows that they’re a very credible threat, and he probably has to throw his hat into the ring to see them off..
The other thing is that he’s been spending time with these Resistance people, and at some level, he likes them.. At some level, he’s loyal to them.. He’s in a state of conflict between those two things and the leverage that Marcus holds over him, and also his own nature to look out for himself, survive, make a shitload of money and head for the hills, you know?? So that’s all going on..
SO: What appeals to you about playing that kind of character??
CM: It’s fantastic, because I truly do not know what’s going to happen to him.. Usually you’ll watch an episode of TV and you can tell from a mile away what’s going to happen to your character, but with this guy, I can’t.. I’d like to think that he’s going to side with the Resistance and do the right thing, but anything could happen..
SO: Why would you want him to do that?? [ Laughter ] Would you want to play the heroic character as opposed to somebody who’s a little bit sneakier??
CM: I mean … on most of the shows you do, they’re about cops and robbers and lawyers, or doctors and nurses or whatever.. A character can be a little bit sneaky and look out for themselves on those shows, and we go, ” Oh, he’s a survivor.. He’s interesting..” Well, this is a show about the entire human race against an enemy that is so powerful and so evil that we can’t quite comprehend it yet.. There’s no interesting gray area there, you know?? If he’s a bit sneaky and sides with the aliens to make money, that’s not very interesting or appealing to an audience, I think..
Also, I’ve been doing this for 15 odd years, and most of my career, I’ve been playing bad guys.. It would be nice to get the girl and run off into the sunset for a nice change!! [ Laughs ] I don’t know that Hobbes is a real picnic on the beach guy frolicking in the sand with his M-16 or something, but anything could happen..
SO: Going into Season Two, Hobbes is carrying a big secret with him: ” I’ve got a deal going on with the V’s..” While that might not be something that would bother him before, is it something that’s causing kind of a headache for him right now??
CM: Yeah, yeah.. It was the weirdest thing; I think the last scene that I did in Season One was with Joel Gretsch.. He gave his amazing performance, this amazing sermon in church.. I walked into that scene – both as an actor and as a character – I walked into that last scene right after I’d just come from a scene where I’m selling out all of humanity.. There’s also this other person, this mystery person – this photo – that Hobbes cares about very much.. So, that’s going on in my head as well.. I go in and I see this guy, this priest, who should be my enemy but he’s actually become somewhat my friend, giving this very important speech to get people behind the Resistance..
I go in and sit next to a woman who [ Works for ] the FBI – she should be my mortal enemy, but at some level, she’s become my friend as well, and Hobbes is also probably attracted to her at some level.. She’s just come off of the alien ship alive, and she should be dead.. I’d never expected to see her again, but she’s alive.. I’m thrilled about that!!
And I’m sitting there in God’s house, having just betrayed all of humanity.. There is just so much going on here.. I turned to Elizabeth and I said, ” What do I play here?” [ Laughs ] It just shows as a character how many pressures there were on this guy, and as an actor, what do you play?? There’s so much going on.. I just don’t know which way it’s going to go..
SO: How quickly are you just going to be falling into bed with people?? [ Laughter ] We think the show needs more sex!!
CM: I truly couldn’t argue with that at all.. [ Laughs ] It was funny.. Elizabeth and I would have these scenes and sort of add in these little things, moments of flirtation and what not, and most of them didn’t get into the show.. They kind of cut around that.. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I would love for Hobbes to fall into bed with just about any female character on the show!!
I’d love for Hobbes’ heart to come out in some way.. I think that would be great..
SO: Do you feel a different comfort level coming out of the start of the second season than you did coming into the first season in the middle of things?? Do you feel like you’re now established and with the team??
CM: Oh, yeah.. In terms of the cast and crew?? Yeah, yeah, very much.. We were just down in San Diego at Comic – Con and we had a great time..
SO: Did you really?? Comic – Con is overwhelming, isn’t it??
CM: It’s funny.. I spoke to some other actors who were down there, not from this show, who were [ Bored by ] Comic – Con.. I come from New Zealand where we’re not incredibly passionate people.. We don’t get turned on by anything other than rugby.. I had 15 years of TV in New Zealand where the biggest response you’d get is, ” Oh, he’s off Street Legal..” Out here, everybody is like, ” Oh my god, you’re on V!!” It’s just fantastic to have that kind of energy, that kind of passion, you know?? So I loved Comic – Con.. It was great..
SO: We’re heading towards this big battle in Season Two.. Are we going to see more plotting and planning, or in the first episode will we get right into some sort of battle??
CM: There’s a bit of both.. Season One was all about the cold war.. Everything that’s going on is covert and by the side.. But in the first episode, there are some overt interactions..
SO: Are you getting involved with some of that??
CM: Yeah, some.. [ Laughs ] Hobbes is always involved in that kind of thing..

Listener: Vancouver is apparently the sci – fi capital of the world, where shows such as Stargate Universe and Caprica are filmed; what’s it like working there?
Charles Mesure: There are so many shows shooting up there, it’s destroyed all my illusions, all these shows and movies that I thought were set in New York or Los Angeles or whatever and they all film in Vancouver..
L: Is that because it looks like a kind – of ” anycity “?
CM: It’s funny, it’s not a huge city, but if you point the camera at the right spots, it can look very similar to New York.. They’ve got amazing alpine views and they’ve got the downtown area, they’ve got a bunch of stuff, also the crews up there are outstanding so with tax breaks and foreign exchange advantages, it’s a really good place to film..
L: The character in V, Kyle Hobbes, is a real tough guy – what’s his role in the story?
CM: There’s a small handful of humans who work out very early on that the Visitors – the alien invaders – are up to no good, so they have to fight the Vs, they have to resist in some kind of guerrilla war.. But none of these guys are soldiers, so they hire me.. I’m a mercenary; Kyle Hobbes is number one on the FBI’s most wanted list as the most dangerous terrorist on the planet, and the resistance decides he’d be a pretty handy guy to help them fight the Vs..
L: Are you enjoying being the action guy?
CM: I’m loving it, it’s another one in my long line of hard bastards.. It’s fantastic.. Within the science fiction mythology, he’s the Han Solo character, he’s the cocky mercenary who gets all the cool one liners, so it’s a lot of fun to play..
L: And do you wish it had been vampires?
CM: Man, there’s so many vampires now, you can’t get away from it.. There’s vampire shows out here that you probably wouldn’t have seen in New Zealand yet, they’re just everywhere.. I dunno, if I get to play a vampire one day, great, but I’m pretty darn happy doing what I’m doing at the moment..
L: V is quite a CG – heavy show; how much engagement with that side of things do you have?
CM: In every episode we spend a good couple of days doing green screen stuff.. But V is like two or three separate shows – there’s the Visitors and their world, which is very much CG created; and then there’s the Resistance, which is all real action.. So my whole show is me and Elizabeth Mitchell and Joel Gretsch and Morris Chestnut plotting in bunkers and messing around with guns and things, so it’s like we’re in a different show from what the Visitors are doing..
L: Do you think that science fiction and fantasy are much more mainstream now since LOST?
CM: Very much so.. We just got a call the other day from J.J. Abrams people, because he’s doing a new show called Undercovers that they wanted me to come and do, and it turns out I’m not available because I’m going to Vancouver.. I think it’s five years since I worked with him on LOST, and it has influenced everything: it has influenced the kind of storytelling we’re doing on V, it has hugely influenced the kind of storytelling we do on This Is Not My Life.. Audiences are really asked to be intellectually engaged with the mystery and the storytelling now..
L: When we interviewed you five years ago you had just moved to the US and were very busy – but there’s been a writer’s strike and a recession since then.. Have you seen a lot of changes in Hollywood?
CM: The landscape has changed totally since I first got here.. The writer’s strike and the recession changed the structure of the industry enormously.. There was a huge movement into reality TV and unscripted TV because there were no scripts to play with.. And then that totally impacted on employment opportunities, because there were no scripts, you had huge movie stars coming back to do tiny guest roles on TV, so pilot season 2005, there were all kinds of people who wanted to take a risk on an unknown actor like me, then you have pilot season 2010, you look at the list of actors who are doing a pilot, there are huge international film stars – Dustin Hoffman is coming back to do TV, Al Pacino is now doing TV movies..
L: When you came back to New Zealand last year you ended up in three different shows: was that like opposite world?
CM: People usually leave New Zealand to find work.. There was a guy who was doing post – production on two of the shows, Kaitangata Twitch and This Is Not My Life, and I remember him saying, ” who’s this new guy, there’s a new face on the block, how cool..” And I felt like saying, ” I did 10 years before that in New Zealand!” That’s the thing, you go away for a couple of years and all of a sudden you’re a new face again.. It worked out to my advantage last year, it was fantastic, but it was probably too much, there was too much going on.. At one point I was commuting between the North and South Islands a couple of times a week to finish Outrageous Fortune and Kaitangata Twitch and then there was a big overlap with This Is Not My Life as well and it was a lot of fun, but it was insane, just way too much..
L: Was it a almost a culture shock coming back to work in New Zealand again?
CM: With Outrageous Fortune it was less of a culture shock, because I looked at the cast and that crew and there was very obviously a very high skill level across the board, probably higher than any show that I’ve done in New Zealand before, so that was a really nice surprise to come and see these people doing really amazing work..
L: Have there been technical improvements since you left?
CM: One thing that was really interesting was that in New Zealand my whole career was on 16mm film, and then I came back and everything I did last year was all using digital media, and that puts different constraints on the crew and the actors because things like focus and hitting marks and so on become hyper – critical, whereas 16mm film used to give us a bit of margin for error..
L: Digital media, like the RED cameras that were used for This Is Not My Life?
CM: The evil RED cameras, the cameras that break down every five minutes.. But the pictures are beautiful, the pictures are absolutely stunning, so all of the teething problems in the end didn’t really matter..

V‘s Executive Producer, Scott Rosenbaum, has revealed that there will be ” shifting loyalties “ in V: The New Series Season Two..
Recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Rosenbaum suggested that the characters will face much more stress in future episodes.. Click on the image below to watch the ” First Part “ interview video..
The ” First Part “ of the interview, EW chats with Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ), Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ), Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ), Executive Producer Scott Rosenbaum and Morris Chestnut ( Ryan Nichols ).. The interview starts off with EW’s Michael Ausiello congratulating Elizabeth Mitchell on her Emmy nomination for LOST as they talk about her role and acceptance speech..
Moving onto V, the Cast and Scott Rosenbaum talk about getting over the growing pains of the first season and settling into the groove of the end of season, showing the potential of Season Two.. Morris Chestnut explains that it brought them closer as a cast and helped them grow into their roles which should make Season Two an exciting year.. As Joel Gretsch gives credit to Rosenbaum for pulling Season One together after joining behind – the – scenes half way through the season..
Rosenbaum explains how he came took over half way through Season One: ” I sorta came in middle and my goal was to try plant the seeds to create something that can last for a, hopefully, a really long time.. And I think if you watch the Season Finale, there’s some very strong choices for all the different characters..”
He continued: ” Coming off from that, just being in the Writers Room, we’ve had so many great stories that we’ve come with that we’re so excited to tell..”
” I’d say the last three episodes [ Of Season One ] are probably a good template for what the show will fell like moving forward..”
” What I want to do – and what [ The cast ] are so great at doing – is find the nerve endings in the characters and just squeeze them,” he said.. ” I think what’s going to happen is, they’re in a war.. And war changes people..”
He continued: ” When you talk about loyalty, I think it’s how are these characters going to react when they’re in a war and it’s life and death and they have to choose between themselves or possibly the greater good?? Which decision are they going to make??”
When asked about Season Two’s theme changing to ” loyalties,” early in Season Two, Rosenbaum explains: ” There will be, I think, a lot of loyalties shifting and a lot of maneuvering and then the question is when they fall, what side is everyone going to be on??”
Asked how importantly it is to air the show consecutive, Rosenbaum reveals: ” The plan is to run consecutive.. Actually, the first 6 [ Episodes ], I think, will air in November [ 2010 ] and then it’s Christmas so, I think, we’ll be off for two weeks, and then we’ll run the rest of the episodes..”
Rosenbaum promised that there will be a ” huge cliffhanger “ in the middle of the season and suggested that some of the dynamics of the show will change..
” The fun of this season is finally, I’m going to have [ The ] group led by Erica start to get a little bit ahead of [ Anna's group ] for the first time and start to figure out what their plans are,” he said.. ” So they’ll know what the red sky was, but the world won’t.. But it is the first shot of the war.. You will find out what it is at the end of the first episode but it’s such a big twist that I don’t want to give it away right now..”
The ” Second Part “ of the interview, EW chats with Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ) Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ), Scott Wolf ( Chad Decker ), Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) and Executive Producer Steve Pearlman.. Click on the image below to watch the ” Second Part “ interview video..

The V Panel was held at 2:30pm on Saturday 24th July 2010 at the San Diego Comic – Con, which was presented in Ballroom 20.. In attendance was a star – studded cast which included Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ), Morris Chestnut ( Ryan Nichols ), Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ), Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ), Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ), Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ), Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) and Scott Wolf ( Chad Decker ), along with Executive Producers Scott Rosenbaum and Steve Pearlman..
When media reporters started lining up for the TV Panels at Comic – Con, in the wee early hours the morning, many asked nearby fans which cast they were waiting for.. A big portion of the crowd said they were already lining up for V.. Not that we ever doubted the dedication of Veeks alike.. Comic – Con goers were rewarded with lots of teases and tidbits on the upcoming season, and you get them right here without having to line up or anything..
So how is V: The New Series Season Two going to top Season One? Well during today’s panel at Comic – Con, Executive Producer Scott ( Skeeter ) Rosenbaum, promised that Season Two will be bigger and better in every way.. Rosenbaum acknowledged that ” not as many cards were turned over “ last season..
It’s no secret that V went through some serious behind – the – scene struggles its freshman year but with Rosenbaum solidly seated in the showrunner’s seat now, things are getting interesting.. One complaint some fans of the series had about the first season of the show was it felt too small in scope, given the situation.. Rosenbaum promised that Season Two of V would ” absolutely “ be bigger and that the network actually encouraged them to give the show more of an international feel, which everyone agreed was the right choice.. In fact, they’d recently sent crews to various parts of Europe and Asia to shoot footage that could be used as background for scenes they might like to spend in various countries down the line..
Lots of revelations are planned for season two, as well as tons of character backstory.. ” We’re going to see the true nature of what the visitors are about, and what they’re like underneath, so it’s going to be exciting,” says executive producer Scott Rosenbaum.. ” It will be chock full of great reveals,” Rosenbaum promises..
He also teased that Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) will look for the nurturing she’s not receiving from mother Anna ( Morena Baccarin ) by developing a closer relationship with Erica ( Elizabeth Mitchell ), while Tyler ( Logan Huffman ) will return the favor by saddling up with Anna..
Most importantly, fans will finally get to meet Anna’s mother, who will make her entrance at the end of the first episode.. Rosenbaum hinted that this character was perhaps the most important among several new characters we’ll be meeting this year.. Later, a question was asked about whether we’d go to the Visitors’ home planet, and Rosenbaum said we’d certainly learn more about them – which is when he began a sentence with, ” When we meet Diana …”
This got a big reaction, and Rosenbaum admitted he’d just accidentally given away that yes, Anna’s mother will share the name with an iconic character from the original V.. Even before we knew this fact, Rosenbaum was asked during the panel if perhaps Jane Badler, who played Diana in V: The Original Mini – Series, could play Anna’s mother.. Rosenbaum wouldn’t commit to this, though he did say ” We’re going to cast the best actor and she is certainly someone we’re thinking about,” said Rosenbaum.. ” I don’t know if she’ll be Anna’s mother, but I’d like to have her be in the show this season..” Word is that Producers are talking to Jane Badler, the original alien baddie in the 1983 version of V..
So is the name a coincidence? ” When I was pitching the concept to the network and the studio on who this character was, it was easiest to frame it in terms of if it’s her mother, is it possible that [ It's the one ] from the ’80s series?” Rosenbaum said after the panel..
Season Two will uncover a lot more mysteries about the Visitors.. What the V‘s really look like.. How long they’ve been here.. And the V‘s true reasons for coming to Earth.. More about the Visitors under Anna’s leadership.. How their extended stay has changed world events and why they’re planning to stick around..
So what else was revealed for Season Two, well in no particular order:
In regards to the ” Red Sky “ in the Season One finale, ” You will find out what the red sky means at the end of the season premiere,” Scott promises..
Viewers will be treated to a piece of the V‘s home world.. ” When we meet Diana, she’ll be in her natural habitat,” reveals Rosenbaum.. It’s through ” Diana,” ( Anna’s mother ) viewers will see where the Visitors came from.. We’re going to meet Diana towards the end of the first episode of Season Two..
Joel Gretsch ( Father Jack Landry ) was asked if there will be more ” Action Jack “ next season.. At this point, Rosenbaum steps in and says that, yes, viewers will see more of a ” Soldier Priest “ than the ” Priest Soldier “ we saw in Season One.. We can only assume Jack will be giving a little less conversation and a little more action come next season.. Though Jack started out as a man of peace, his main challenge this year will be maintaining that morality.. The show is interested in pursuing what happens when mankind’s moral compasses ( Such as priests ) start losing their morality.. ” Jack is on the far end of the spectrum as a man of peace and God, so his challenge is to be able to maintain that..” Rosenbaum likened his underground man of God to the ” moral spine “ of humanity that the Visitors are so intent on breaking.. Father Jack will continue to question his faith and his belief that peace cannot be accomplished through armed Resistance..
Elizabeth Mitchell ( Erica Evans ) was asked about the strong characters she has played before; what makes Erica unique? She laughs, because she usually thinks of Erica the same as the other women.. She does say that Erica’s humanity is a major focus for her..
Morena Baccarin ( Anna ) is asked about her V offsprings being destroyed, and her subsequent scream, the first emotion she has shown.. She responds that Anna will face an interesting conflict all season after the death of her eggs.. ” It will take her closer to humanity than she wants to be,” Morena says.. Anna has a very ” slow and devious “ plan for mankind; the red sky is the first strike, and the meaning of that ominous coloring will be revealed in the first episode of the season premiere..
Erica and Anna will find that they have one thing in common: They are both losing their children.. Just as Tyler is seduced by the advanced technology of the Visitors, Lisa will continue to be handicapped by her emotions and empathy for the humans.. This will push each further away from their own mothers and into the waiting arms of a surrogate mother figure.. Tyler will align with Anna and Lisa will align with Erica – at least for a time.. Children are fickle and their attraction and desire to find something relatable and to fill the void in their hearts will draw them into worlds diametrically opposite from anything they have ever known..
Lisa ( Laura Vandervoort ) will look towards Erica as a nurturing mother figure, while Tyler will be drawn closer to Anna; we’ll find out exactly why Anna is so obsessed with Tyler, and whether either woman will use the others child as leverage in the war..
” Lizard love is the best love!” says the beautiful Morena Baccarin rocking a blonde head of hair.. We will be finding out why she seems to be so interested in Tyler..
Was Scott Wolf’s ( Chad Decker ) character’s aneurysm real? It’s not entirely clear.. Is Chad Decker still interested in furthering his career, or is he looking for ” lizard love?” Wolf says yes, ” lizard canoodling “ with Anna would be worth it even if she bit his head off.. He suggests that Anna’s connection to humanity has much more to do with her attraction to Chad.. He also mentions that Chad will choose an allegiance next season and that people may be surprised to discover what side Chad ends up fighting on..
We’ll also get to meet Chad’s father mid season, which will shed some light on why Chad has made some of the decisions in his life that he has..
What was the purpose of killing Ryan’s ( Morris Chestnut ) wife, Val ( Lourdes Benedicto )? Rosenbaum says that it was necessary for Anna to make Ryan see the bad sides of humanity so he’ll again be susceptible to Anna’s bliss.. So Val really is dead.. She will not be returning for Season Two..
Logan Huffman ( Tyler Evans ) is asked if whether a Tyler will mend the rift with his father.. He hopes so, because shooting with Nicholas Lea ( Joe Evans ) was a lot of fun.. Tyler’s father, Joe Evans ( Nicholas Lea ), will be back in Season Two.. Tyler will also find out who his birth father is..
Rosenbaum reveals that as the Fifth Column expands, they are going to meet a ” pretty radical “ group of other Fifth Columns, which will cause conflict, as they have a very different means of dealing with the war..
Charles Mesure ( Kyle Hobbs ) announced at he is coming back as a series regular for Season Two and will take a more prominent role on the show.. Will Hobbes be forced to choose sides in the impending war? It appears that he’ll have to do just that.. Just exactly where on the spectrum of good and evil he falls is not yet determined.. ” He’s seen the V‘s as a real threat and the humans will have to do something about.. In Season Two, we’ll see which way he goes,” Scott Rosenbaum spills..
In a maneuver that shocked everyone last season he sold out the Resistance for a hefty sum of money.. But like Judas, he may ultimately regret taking the 30 pieces of silver in exchange for the lives of his new – found friends..
Hobbs may not yet realize it, but Erica, Jack, and Ryan have become a quasi – family for him.. Hobbs surprisingly has trusted them enough to invite them into his life and once they are excluded he may be surprised to realize how much he needed them.. They are not only the voice of reason, but the voice of humanity – and if Hobbs wants to retain his humanity, he will need to quickly decide which side he is on.. He will also begin to recognize that money is no longer the currency that it was before the arrival of the Visitors.. Such intangibles as loyalty, love and friendship may become the currency of the day in which he will suddenly find himself craving and seeking out.. Man cannot live by money alone.. Man must have human connections or longevity will be pointless..
Laura Vandervoort ( Lisa ) is asked whether Lisa is up to the challenge to be the possibile savior of humanity.. Yes, but she can’t say whether she will actually be that savior..
What is the dynamic between Erica and Anna next season? Rosenbaum said that the show is about two mothers battling for their children, and how far they are willing to go to protect their own.. There will be a burgeoning relationship between Erica and Lisa, while Tyler will be pushed towards Anna.. So, how do these women use, or not use, their new wards? Will the V‘s world be seen? Rosenbaum says that yes, when Diana, Anna’s mother, is seen, it will be in their home world.. ( This was actually an error by Rosenbaum who spoiled the name of Anna’s mom )..
What was the most shocking things for the cast? For Vandervoort, it was finding out Lisa was Anna’s daughter.. For Baccarin, it was killing Val.. Mitchell revealed that the audience will find out, definitively, why Anna is so interested in Tyler.. Rosenbaum expanded on this, saying that they are not trying to be cute about the show’s mythology.. In other words, Season Two will answer questions about the V‘s past, and their long – planned invasion of Earth, which are apparently ” very creepy..”
Will the V / human hybrid baby be central? Ryan’s child ” was not meant to be;” but Anna will use child for her ” devious advantage “ says Rosenbaum.. The hybrid is a way to manipulate Ryan.. ” The hybrid baby is another weapon, as Anna would look at it, in her arsenal..” Rosenbaum explained that her demise was a necessary power play for Anna, in her attempt to gain leverage over Ryan.. The conflicted father – to – be, seduced by the joys of human emotion needed to experience pain and suffering, another common aspect of humanity, in order to get him to return to ” V – dom..”
So is he Ryan now an enemy of the Fifth Column? Said Morris Chestnut, ” I don’t know, I think Ryan responds to the bliss depending on what kind of dress Anna is wearing..”
We’re going to find out how long the Vs have been here and whether and how they’ve changed world history.. We will find out more about how long the Vs have been putting sleeper agents on Earth.. Rosenbaum pondered, ” Have they been here in the 40s, the 50s, the 60s? Has their presence changed world events in ways we can’t imagine?” We will also find out exactly what the Visitors are, physically – whether we can truly define them as lizards or perhaps a combination of species..
Scott Rosenbaum wouldn’t say whether John May would return in Season Two..
V returns in November 2010 on ABC..
And finally, will the audience see the global impact of the V invasion? Absolutely.. While it is great to focus on the immediate concerns of those in New York, the global effect of the invasion is of major importance and will have consequences for all the characters.. We will see more of the Fifth Column around the world.. ” We’re going to be moving around more internationally,” says Rosenbaum.. The show will enjoy a global scope in season two, with footage shot in Europe and Asia.. So prepare to get global..
What do you think of V ‘s new direction? Are you on board?
